Just to share a video from a military mission I'm building :


Thing is that with the whole globe included and all that content available,
developed by fans or developers, FSX can simulate almost anything in aviation...

After all is named the "Flight Simulator"...
 
Verdun 1916 : Battle at Azannes

A new Mission available for anyone interested. It's for CS Weapons users and for the freeware Alphasim RAF SE5a.
CCP is also used for spawning the ground convoy in mission. (CCP use in missions has the benefit that users may make and add
their own custom convoy or convoys for mission variation). I will most probably convert it for Multiplayer also (2 players, no AI).
CS Weapons work in MP Missions contrary to Tacpack. CCP also has the advantage of synchronized movement of the vehicles in Multiplayer
(provided mission does not last longer than 1.5-2 hours).

If you are going for historical accuracy - you are aware that the S.E.5 didn't enter service till March 1917, yes ?
 
From the included "Read_Me" :

Though historically correct for the mission is the Nieuport 11 or 17, SE5a is an excellent plane and chosen for that.

I tried the freeware Nieuport but liked the SE5 so much more...

About acuracy ... Verdun 1916 ...all planes are french ones (most of thems were models Nieuport, Morane-Saulnier and Caudron) and germans of course. At the end of the war, US pilots serving with Spad VII or Spad XIII are fighting with Frenchs. British aircrafts were fighting in the west zone of the front (Somme battle for this period) not at the east, never in the Verdun zone.

Fair enough, but wouldn't it therefore make more sense to create a mission over the British sector of the front, after March 1917 ? Cambrai for example, or Passchendaele maybe ? It would save you having to explain it all.
 
It's really an immersive FSX mission with very good "feeling" while flying it, regardless of the points mentioned.
As mission is, the easiest & quick modification for me to do, is to provide a historical correct modification of the
mission for the freeware Nieuport.
But the thing is that Nieuport does not have aiming crosshair and mission is intented for use with the CS Weapon add on.

1. Historically correct (Nieuport is FS9 portover, so there is an FPS "penalty" but absolutely flyable).
2. Updated mission feature : Arrival of CCP vehicles at Ornes, trigger Warning sound and text
3. Further customized "csweapon.xml"
4. "Nieuport 17" package for FSX : windscreen fix, engine sounds, thumbnails. The pink fuel tube remains.

Verdun 1916 Multiplayer

Mission of the above post, converted for Multiplayer.

This is a co-operative multiplayer FSX mission for 2 players. Maybe the first of it's kind, ie, multiplayer mission with weapon addon usage.

Fly with your squadmate online, engaging "waves" of enemy convoys heading from Azzanes to Ornes.

Players task is to intercept all vehicles before they make it to Ornes village. Enemy defends the area with flak that can cause damage to players and subsequent sorties for rearming or refuelling / repairing will be needed until the end of the mission.

Due to the CCP use inside the mission instead of vehicles spawned by the mission itself, players (server player actually) can customize the number of enemy convoys and time intervals between their spawn (enemy "waves"), thus defining the duration and difficulty of the mission. Also customized convoys may be made by the players and be used (different number of vehicles and/or speed). These files can also be shared. (This is the flexibility that CCP provides, either in Free Flight or in Missions).
Another advantage of CCP use in FSX Mission environment is that moving units are synchronized in Multiplayer (at least for duration no longer than 1.5 - 2 hours).
At the same time, CCP units can trigger events inside the mission (eg, the Warning sound & text) thus may be functional elements of the missions.

This is the first of other MP missions that will follow (I hope) in various Aviation Eras & themes. CS Weapons addon is the only that works in MP mission environment and thus the addon that will be used.

I hope that few people will have a good time with this at some time.
