• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Full Screen

Hi Easy Flier,
under Properties for the shortcut to cfs3.exe, you add the suffix -windowed. Actually I can't remember the precise syntax. So you right click on the shortcut and add the windowed command after the exe. You may need to google to get the correct syntax if -windowed doesn't work. I recall that several variants work. I think there are no spaces.

Can you copy this info to the knowledge base, please? Great example of what we meant about odd things some know and some (like me) don't!

Ooh I never knew that! I thought that cfs3 couln't run in windowed mode...the bl**dy hours that would have saved me over the years as the darn thing locked up yet again :d

I tried the syntax, -window, and it worked.
It's a truly small window in the middle of my wide screen, but it would serve well for development of missions, etc., since you might not have to reboot to get out of a hangup.

Now to find out if you can change the size of the window.

Nigel is quite correct; this is precisely the sort of typically undocumented (M$oft) thing that should go into the knowledge sticky.

-window, followed by either -800; -1024 or -1280 sets the size to 800x600; 1024x768 or 1280x1024

cheers

Yup, that works. Thanks.

I was sort of hoping for the option available in fs2004 where the alt key brings the top menu and the launch/system tray into view.

Not like M$oft to be inconsistent ... lol
