Fun with Freeware

Not a tube guy but do fly GA (in addition to military) and really wish there was a decent payware ultra long range business jet like a G550 or Falcon 7x with all the trimmings. Many of us know why we don't . .

Anyway, fun "treasure hunting" spare parts and bit and bobs hither and thither (i.e. avism, flightsim, simviation . .) and lashed up this all freeware BBJ 2 - that's a 737-800 - but with lazy boy recliners, dining furniture and a stateroom or two for those 6,000 nm vacations with your closest friends.

Rick, this is just stuff I pulled together scavenging various web sites. Based on the POSKY 737-800 using the default FSX vc and interior. If you would like the panel and/or repaint send me a pm.

Thanks for the response!

There is an alternative virtual cockpit for the 737-800, made by Alejandro Rojas Lucena, and it's full of additionnal goodies. For example, a freeware FMC, better cabin lighting and a windshield rain effect forcing you to use the wipers :)

IFly puts out a 737 set that includes all three 737-bbjs. Admittedly only the BBJ1 has >6000 mile range but its a wonderful plane to fly. The IFly 737s are very top shelf but well worth the price as they stand as an equal to the PMDG 737ngx. I personally love my little mighty might. If i'm flying tubes at all, thats the plane i use, and that one plane, made the whole cost more than worthwhile.

Yes it has his panel with FMC as a base with a bunch of other add ons and some tinkering by me in the xml files.

Pam- thanks - have deliberated between the iFly and PMDG models in the past and appreciate your recommendation on this!

I probably should have posted these above but didnt think of it.. Yup, its my mighty might.. :)..

I guess the main difference between IFly and PMDG is that PMDG doesnt make a BBJ. They make a 700 which isnt a BBJ. you see, the BBJ1 ( BBJ ) is a special combination. Boeing used the fuselage of a 737 but then used the wings from a 738, so they're longer than a 737s. then they gave it this fuel capacity that pushes its full weight up into the 739 region. Boeings made other BBj's with 738s and 739s but they dont have the legs this lil feller has. Ifly accurately reflects this construction, but for as great as it is, PMDG's NGX doesnt.
