Fun With Skins

First, I need to say that this Sim is REMARKABLE. It is truely an amazing achievement and Worth Every Penny (and it's not even that pricey.:applause:

Next, I was inspired by the fine skins in this Sim to actually attempt to learn how it's done - at least the simple parts. I did some reading on the forum, found the appropriate plugins, software, ect., read some more, and started playing.

I've never "skinned" before but I thought the results, while not intended for historical accuracy, were pretty and even kinda cool - if there are any Motörhead fans on the forum, I think you'll like Lemmy's DR1. Yes, it says what you think it says on the rear stabilizer but can't quite read entirely, :engel016: and yes, on the front cowling it does read "Motörhead."

Bravo BHAH Creators. Bravo to everyone on the forum too because reading your posts helped me tweak my medium powerful system to playable and visual delight, and of course, taught me a little about skinning - which was fun.

hey saburo those are great designs, no doubt, but they are too 60's to my taste except maybe #4, which looks pretty mean but not among the other three... could u make a custom skin for a fan?

I could certainly try. Might be fun.

Yeah, the "colorful ones" do have that look - really just experiments - slapping patterns and seeing what came of it.

What are you looking to have customized and in what way?

Nice ones Saburo! Regarding #4 . . . She's the Ace of Spades man!!!

Bravo! So many skinners are afraid to show off their stuff like this. Everybody does it for their own amusement, and might even think their wild designs are their best work, but hardly anybody puts it out in public for fear of undermining their street cred on the realistic stuff they do.

Of course, a lot of realistic WW1 paintjobs were pretty wild, but you know what I mean ;).

Yeah - hence the disclaimer of no historical accuracy - but they fly just like they should - thanks OFF team!:woot:
Quick question - I haven't noticed it in my readings - any recommendations on appropriate software to record a flight in action? Sorry if this has been covered and I missed it. Just curious.

People have been using FRAPS to make YouTube videos. Never done it myself, but search in here for FRAPS and you'll see some tips on how to use it.

My guess is that you were on LSD when painting the first 3 jobs :costumes:
Tricky Question: If God and Lemmy fought against each other, who would win?

I admit that I was drinking Jack Daniels and Coke Classic on ice when I skinned the DR1.

But I won't answer the God Lemmy fight question in deference to anyone of faith except to say, "Duh!"

Sometimes needs a bit of tweaking, but loadsa guys on here to help with that
:ernae:

Yeah, I installed it, didn't work, crashed the system. Removed it (that'll teach it!) , and sometime later I'll reinstall and try to tweak it. The idea would be to shoot a ton of the "Ace of Spades" DR1 in combat, super Lemmy into the cockpit (doable), set it to music - fanboy stuff, low priority.

Lemmy in a DR1?...hmm..well there's a thought! :ernae:

A bit like having the Pope in a Porn movie!
