Future feature - a heartfelt plea!

Winder, whilst guys are asking - may I join in and ask for a future feature
although it may be impossible. But if i don't ask.....

I now enjoys the dogfights so much- so realistic now- I had one for 20 mins the other day, then finally nailed him- But by then I so respected that pilot ( this is crazy, he don't exist, but you start to believe he does :)), I didn't really want to finish him off - anyhow, afterwards, I would have loved to have made a recording of it - to watch again with a cuppa.
In the style of IL2 - where you make trks of the good flights.

I know that technically this must be difficult - probably impossible- but I cannot think of a sim of which it is more deserving to have such a wonderful feature as this.

cheers

I would love to say yes but the answer in reality is probably closer to no - but hey who knows what may happen in the future!

As always the Dev team would take your suggestion and mull it over. However, given the technical hit and possible effect that in-game filming may have (FPS etc), it may not be considered plausible.

In the short term I guess those who want to film a sequence can always use FRAPS etc, configured to be switched on and off as required. That's how most of the OFF vids have been created so far.

The good thing about a track file is that it can be replayed from various views. So you can fly from the cockpit and then play it from outside view. It is really good for moviemaking as you are free to chose the angle and record with FRAPS playing the track and not during the flight. In Il-2 it works with no effect on frame rates as far as I have seen. I understand that it is not a video recording but a recording of flightsim data and the file ends up quite small on the hard drive. When the track is replayed the simulation is actually rerun. The FS series also have this capability but the best recording they can do is for every 1/4 sec.

CFS3 has no such capability so such a task would have to be a major task to be undertaken by the developers. But with what we have seen so far, we are really spoiled as to what they can achieve.

Let me first make clear that I know next to nothing about writing software, so what I will say may sound retarded to those who know... Just kinda thinking out loud. Since we already have a recorder of a kind, isn't it as "simple" as allowing CFS (or OFF) to somehow accept that record as input? I mean, it wouldn't be a track, per se, as it would be generated on the fly as if you were playing, only accepting input from a file instead of from a person... It seems that all the info provided from the review mission feature would be enough to replay the flight... am I on the right track?

Edit: Oh... Dimus said what I mean and cleared it up for me "...be a major task..."

Yes Zommoz that's how we would do it if any way, but recording more data takes more cpu etc of course, more writes to drive etc. All you have to do then <ahem> is make CFS3 now use it to replay it. ;)
