Fw190 Seasons

SOH-CM-2024
I had my head so deep inside the virtual cockpit over the past weeks that I almost forgot how good the external model is!

You really gotta fly those camoed birds over their historical environment.

The bump mapping in pic#5 is awesome! :ernae:
I hardly ever spend money on planes as I just don't have room in the budget...but I might have to make an exception for this, as it is an incredible model of a design I always thought looked good :)

yikes this is a guaranteed purchase for me, one question, will the release include the swastikas?

No it won't.
But if you want historical tailmarkings, for instance roundels on captured birds ( :kilroy: ) there's an option to paint a little 24kb file called ch_fw190_taildecal_t.dds, so that there is no need to overpaint the entire base texture sheet.
I'm pretty sure some will know how to use their paint programm. :engel016:

Out standing work !, I'd liked to have made just one model even remotely as good as this in my FS career before it ended LOL. Good work Mathias, keep it up.

Michael, hearing that from you means a lot to me, thanks mate!
BTW, I didn't know that you don't make payware anymore.
Though I kinda figured that something was going on judging by some of your latest responses in certain threads. :kilroy:

Mathias,

Credit where credit is due !, its a masterfull piece of workmanship, I looked over the screen shots and cannot see any polys in torsion, shadows or rough edges, its smooth where it should be smooth, sharp where it should be sharp, naked, I bet its a sight to behold, some Max clay renders would show that a treat, if the base mesh is good then the rest falls into place, but you already know this :icon_lol:. The VC is also a master piece of workmanship, heres something else, I'd lay a small wager on it being very good on FPS, being as you worked in CFS2 I reckon all those polys really work for the model, not like some of these recent releases where quality is at the expense of massive poly overheads, I think this FSX zero poly budget is making some developers lazy with their poly skills TBH.

Payware, not the right thread to discuss LOL, but yes I'm getting out, not just payware but FS in whole, my hearts not in it any more, I'll update my blog when I'm clear in my mind what I want to do, till then I'm in limbo really.

Anyway, back to the Butcher bird, I'll be in line to collect one when released, it may spark some interest back to flight sims for me :costumes:

Michael

Addendum, I just went back and re looked at the images, it really is very good you know !, can we have some screen shots with the gear down and canopy open LOL, I do need to speak to you about the FW190 canopy, never have worked out how the tapered canopy slides back and the front edge remain on the rails ?.

Outstanding work, Mathias! :applause::applause::applause:

Gee Roger beat me to it. :wavey:

Michael, the canopy is sliding in the rails on two wheels each side and just deforms as it moves back.
The plexy is attached with what we in Germany call "Klavierband" (something like piano joint/hinge) to the rods to take off some of the tension.
Thankfully we have skinned mesh animations now so it's probably the first time in a sim that you see an accurately "squashed" Fw190 canopy. :costumes:

Here's a little vid showing the pit:

Not the fancy stuff that some of the wizzards here are able to do but gives quite a good impression of what is in, particularly along with the older external model vid:
