Gameport JS and USBpedals

I have read some positive reply here about pedals so I want to go for a pedal system that can be used on my modern system and my old computer.
Yep, only for RedBaron I have an old Win98SE/P4/Voodoo3 computer. My Joystick is the famous MS forcefeedback with gameport, working only in Win95/98/Me. Because I dislike the rotating handle I want to go for pedals.
I want to buy CH pedals http://www.chproducts.com/retail/pedals.html. Why, it can handle the old Win98SE and I can used it for my modern system flying FSWW1/FE/IL1946hacked/ETO/MAW/PTO/Korea/OFF3 and maybe in the future allso RoF.

So is it possible to use this configuration; Gameport Joystick and USB pedals.

I would not expect that to work....

I tried it the other way around about 12-13 years ago, when USB was just coming out. I had old gameport pedals and tried to use them with my brand new USB stick. This DID NOT WORK. Having anything in a USB port turned off the gamport. They shared the same IRQ or something like that (can't remember exactly--I've killed MANY brain cells since then).

Granted, that was on an ancient machine (although it was a killer rig at the time), USB was brand new, and things weren't as they are now. However, if your machine has a gameport, it's obviously ancient, too. So I figure it will share the same limits.

To cut a long story short, I had to get a complete USB system; couldn't use the gameport at all. Then I found out that the ancient machine didn't have enough juice to work my joystick, so I had to buy a powered USB hub for it and plug the joystick into that, too.

It is an pentium4 mono core, it think performance must be ok.

Like Bullethead said: can't mix the two

I had the MS Sidewinder II stick, the rudder control Stinks, but because of a physical handicapp, I can't use pedals.

So I got a Saitek Cyclone EVO Forcefeed Back Joystick it's almost as good as the pedals 'almost'. Plus it sells for half the price of pedals

gameport and usb

I guess this could be differnt for newer usb devices but I have had an old gameport joystick and a usb joystick on an xp pro computer a while back ago.
use it to play a 2player game with my grandson.

the only problem i encounterd is almost all of the old soundcards, and even alot of newer ones dont recognize the xp game port drivr (gameenum) or something like that, and xp doesnt use the older gameport driver anymore (i think it was joy.cpl).

I did find a voice capable modem (with a riptide chip) that did use the xpgameport drivers, and it worked fine.

but like i said,,,maybe the newer usb devices are different.

i would think that with pci steering, conflicts would be a thing of the past.

The CPU, you can try it, but you Have to RUN XP or Vista PERIOD.

98SE is NOT SUITABLE for OFF

For the record:
I'm running Win98SE on my old P4 monocore system here I use the gameport MS-FF but I have allso 4 Usb ports.
For OFF3 I'm using on my modern 4core system here I use the USB Logitech Forcepro.
The USB CHpedals, I want to use on both systems.
