Gauge issue

Tearing my hair out here...

This is a problem in both FSX & P3D....

In FSX, most of the default gauges do not display at all: IE the Default Bell 20h has a completely blank panel. As well as about half of my aircraft that use the defaults don't work either. In P3d, the gauges show (except for a few of the cessna ones copied over from FSX) but any gauge that has a digit (Radios, extra 300 tach, clocks, etc.) the numbers do not show. I get the little hand to adjust in the right places but no numbers. Any ideas?

Running Windows 7. And 3rd party gauges like the Carenado King air radios work fine. As well as the CRJ gauges.

Just thinking out loud.....

Have you been editing the gauge folder at all? If so, did you inadvertantly rename the folder incorrectly or copy it into another folder. I have done so before. Drove me nuts till I realized I had copied the gauges folder into another gauges folder in the root of the FS folder.

example: I had a gauges\gauges.

D:FSX\
......\Gauges
........\Gauges
...........beech_baron.cab
...........fs9gps.cab
...........ETC.....................

Just a thought.

Could mean that there's a corrupted/missing font?

I share this simple trick willingly. Every time I install FSX (or any other simulator) I take a full copy of the default install onto an external HDD (HDD memory is scheap nowadays). From there it is easy to reinstall missing files (or even the whole default simulator!). At the moment my FSX is 150+ GB . There it is anything but easy to find missing or over written parts.
