Gauging interest...

Hi guys. I finally got my FS rig back after a HD crash. In the thread about the Navys 100th anniversary I stated that I would try to paint the tri color C model Hornet if I ever got to building my paintkit for the AF Hornet again. Well, I got the kit done..... And the scheme. Now, I am just wondering if there is any interest for me to upload it. If there is enough interest in this one, I may just have to do all the special marked Legacy Hornets. I do have some screens of the paint that I will be posting. So, does anyone want it?

Here is the screenshots of what it looks like.

Jamie, I can't recommend it too highly!

Excellent repaint Flyboy, thank you so much. These 'legacy' schemes the US Navy are applying at the moment are amazing, does anybody know if any of the others have already been tackled?

I think this is the first, but I am planning on trying all the Legacy Hornets that are painted that I can find photos of. There should be at least three more in the mix.

A little update

Hey all. Just wanted to give a little update on the remaining schemes. I am currently working on VFC-12's special bird, and trying to put as many details as I can. Research on the markings/ stencils is what has taken the longest amount of time. Luckily I have gotten that done. I am 90% done with VFC-12's bird at this point, just need to adjust a few things and get the alpha channels to a point where I like them, which at this point I am not getting the desired effect. Sorry, no screenshots yet, I am saving those until I get the alphas where I want them. After VFC-12's bird, I will be doing VFA-204's special bird which is very close to VFC-12's, and that should be a quicker turn around than the current paint. After that I will be doing the China Lake aircraft to wrap up the C model Hornet schemes. I haven't decided if I want to try the Super Hornet schemes yet, will have to look at the mapping on the KBT Super Hornets to make the final decision on that.

Alright. I am getting ready to package and upload both the VFC-12 scheme and the VFA-204 scheme. Here is some shots, they are old and the textures have been updated to fix some small issue since I toke these. So here is the first batch.

Flyboy,

I hope you don't mind, but for that texture fix that you uploaded, I modified the original packages, including the revised textures so that the fix is no longer required.

Thanks,

VX-31

Ok, the last paint is done and uploaded to both here and Avsim. This paint is a VX-31 bird in the 1960's test scheme. Here are a few shots for the paint.

Great repaint, a repaint of the VFA 106 aircraft would finish off the set nicely, after all it is all one colour.

Regards Paul Day.
