Well, I have to say that P3D actually performed better this time than the last time I tried it. But after going through a second installation and test of the basic P3D, I'm staying with FSX. Nothing against P3D, it certainly has a niche following just as FSX and FS9 and even the Combat sims do and I'm sure it will get better as it progresses. I made one change to my system and it changed everything for me. I purchased a low-end graphics card yesterday (it was all I could afford) and it cured the blurries, the stutters and the low FPS in FSX. I'm working with an aging computer (Dual Core 5700+, 4gig RAM) so a low-end graphics card seemed appropriate, lol. Anyway, Bill has told me several times, if FSX is performing well, with good fps and you like what you see, then by all means stay with FSX. Up until yesterday I wasn't, but that has changed and so I'm taking his advice and staying where I'm happy.
Thanks to Bill for his honest assessments and advice and to everyone else who offered insights and suggestions, always appreciated. One final note. . .as in the first go around with installing and running P3D, I installed it on a different drive from FSX and yet, somehow it found an old scenery.cfg/scenery library and replaced the one I had in FSX. I was flying in the MEBAR_2013 over on Mutley's Site and had scenery installed for the final airport of the five I was to fly to (this was before I installed P3D). Upon landing I was looking at the default airport. After I closed the flight I went to the scenery library and I didn't even recognize it. There were airports there I hadn't had loaded in months. It was as if it had located an old file and replaced my current one with that one. So for those who swear that P3D doesn't mess with your FSX files. . . .yea it does.
