Gene Roddenberry discusses the original Star Trek pilot

Eoraptor1

SOH-CM-2022
I found this piece surfing YouTube. Gene Roddenberry discusses the obstacles he faced in getting Star Trek to the TV screen. I find it very interesting how changing social mores coupled with dominant advertising models dictate what is and isn't allowable viewing. I know you're here, brother nerds. Tell me what you think.

Thanks for that. I'd like to see the 1st pilot. While growing up, I think I watched every other episode at least 8 times.

It's on YouTube. Include "Star Trek" and "The Cage" in your search parameters. I think there are two versions posted; one in 360p and another in 480. The remastered version appears on television from time to time. I have it on VHS, but not DVD. I think the newly released TOS Season Three set has it as a bonus feature.
