George Steinbrenner dead at 80...

To all baseball fans,

It saddens me to say that George Steinbrenner has died of a massive heart attack.

While he was the symbol of all that Red Sox fans love to hate for the better part of four decades, I must admit that this is a big blow to baseball. I am, after all, a human being first and a Red Sox fan second, (try telling that to my wife, lol) and his rebuilding of a floundering franchise and turning it into a cornerstone of Major League baseball simply cannot be ignored. He certainly had a hand in reviving the Sox-Yanks rivalry that many baseball fans enjoy.

Steinbrenner the person was kind and charitable, and was humble enough to allow himself to be parodied by Seinfeld.

Rest in peace, George. You will be missed.
