Getting back into Il-2; what do I need?

I would like to start playing IL2 again, but it has been a long time so I don't know what I need to get it running on the latest hardware and OS.
I have a DVD of Il-2: 1946 and I am downloading patches 4.08, 4.09, 4.10 and 4.101 at the moment.
My computer is an i7 with a GTX560Ti videocard and my OS is Win7 64-bit.

What kind of tweaks, mods and patches do I need to get the best from the game?
 
i think you got everything you need there Ferry...as far as mods go i think Ultrapack is probably the best...

you get alot more maps, planes, effects...and it comes with a generic mod enabler that lets you control what mods you want to use..or not use.

Any graphics tweaks required to run on modern hardware?
 
Downloading at 2.8MB/s so it should take just over an hour to download!
Found a fix for my widescreen monitor meanwhile, and I've managed to install the game with a bit of fiddling with the compatibility.
 
Had to reinstall the game because it didn't start after installing the Ultra pack; I'm now running it with just the patches installed and it works fine! Bit of graphics tweaking now to make it look better. :)
