GKS B-52H Released

DennyA

SOH-CM-2023
It's out on Marketplace, but only for FS2020. Unknown if buying on FS2020 will also put it in your FS2024 library. (Sometimes it'll appear in 2024 in about 24 hours, other times MS hasn't provisioned it for 2024 and it won't. MP is such a fustercluck.)

Cut and sticked this, as it is a new release for the sim. Please continue the conversation about the release here?

Denny, the video says it's for both sims. One thing I do like is they have the proper crew figures. But it is certainly not my type of plane, I'm a GA guy. However, I'll probably get it, simply because I'm a military aviation buff. What else is a 79 year old man going to spend his $$ on.

This is a nice looking rendition. I would love to hear feedback on the modelled systems and whether it has weapons available if purchased outside the Asobo store. I know Microsoft doesn't like weapons on warbirds, but would love to see them just for show.

A question though, were the B-52H's equipped with TFR radar? I know doctrinally, they were extreme low level penetrators and love all the front end LLTV(?) and electronic sensors fitted for the role.

Anyway, thank you for posting. I am very interested as I very much enjoyed their F-111 in FSX.

Does it fly with the typical B-52 nose down attitude? Take off should also be without pitch up.

Found some additional pics on aviasimhd.com. It looks pretty solid and apparently lots of working systems, including EVS. However, no working radar for TFR per a write up in Avsim. Aviasimhd has some nice pictures of the various skins, cockpit and aircraft in general.

I'm sold.

An old SAC livery would be cool ! Not model appropriate but cool anyway :)
SWS has announced plans to build pretty much the entire B-52 line, including the early SAC models. It sounds like this one’s a good stopgap, but not great enough to kill SWS’s development, which is a lot more ambitious.

This article’s from last year, but mentions they plan the A-H, including accurate cockpits across the eras.

A dumb question, but have to ask. I am updating MSFS24 now, but while browsing the Market Place for this beauty, it is not showing up. Does the Market Place need an update too? LOL! I thought it was real time updated via the browser.

Also, excited to hear they will be releasing a weapons pack later on too.

According to comments on Avsim, the dedicated FS24 version has yet to be released, though it sounds imminent. The FS20 version may work in FS24, but I haven't found any definitive information on that. Personally, I'm holding off for the FS24 version, and hopefully a better sound set. For now, the Just Flight Vulcan gives me all my strategic nuclear bomber jollies.

Thank you for the update. Makes sense. I literally just scoured the market, under every variable and was unsuccessful. I should have logged on earlier to save the energy...lol. I would love to see a side by side of GKS vs SWS BUFFs, once SWS releases. Also excited to see the mention of weapons packs, if just for visuals and weight differences.

I've been eyeballing the JF Vulcan. I bought it in FSX when first released, but soon lost interest in FSX. Being a Vulcan fan since I first saw one many years ago, I will likely buy this one too.

On a more positive note, just downloaded 60gb of updates, so now finalizing the various updates and will try her out in the morning hours.

Yes, something similar happened to me - a lot of great models were released just as my interest in FSX /P3D was waning, and so they never really got used. Mustn't derail this GKS B-52 thread, but I do recommend the JF Vulcan in both FS20 and FS24. It's one of the most interesting aircraft in the sim.

No doubt GKS is wrapped up with the B-52 at the moment, and understandably so, but I really hope they update their F-111 for FS24 in due course. It's another very interesting aircraft.

Agree on all counts and you had to mention their F-111...lol, another lost love.

Anyway, I plan to purchase the GKS and likely the SWS, as I have bought past products produced by both and enjoyed immensely.

SWS's B-52 package looks epic -- the B-52A through H, complete with period cockpits. It's been in development for a long time, though, and it's taken SWS quite a while just to get the far less exciting and dramatically simpler GA-8 Airvan out. (It's excellent, but a plane I only bought because of the quality of the developer's work.) Given that, I may pick up the SWS in the meantime once they get it tweaked, as I imagine I'll get a year or more of use out of it before SWS has thier package ready.

GKS has said they'll update their earlier planes for 2024 once the B-52's solid. I wanted the F-111 when it shipped but it was really expensive and there were a lot of gripes at release. (But I never know how seriously to take complaints from the flight sim crowd...)
