Beaufighter in Paris? It rang a bell then I recalled this incident:
One daring and unusual Beaufighter mission happened on 12 June 1942 when a Coastal Command Beaufighter was flown to Paris by FIt Lt A K Gatward. This pilot flew his aircraft all the way to the Champs-Elysees at hedge-hopping altitude in daylight. Once there he defiantly dropped a ‘tricolore’ and then, to add insult to injury, he strafed Gestapo Headquarters with cannon-fire.
