going in circles

Sorry to keep you guys from flying with another question but, My pilot is signed on with KEK Habshiem and its early 1916. Were based in the Alsace region. A couple of times when flying Ive spotted Bristol Scouts and Nieuports off in the distance and all they are doing is flying in circles. Literally! Tight compact circles. I dive down and engage in an attack and still they just circle! Anybody have this happen to them or know why this is going on?
Thanks,

It's a known issue in P2 Rooster. Some say AI improves on higher slider settings and a fast, powerful rig although personally I've seen no evidence of this and am highly sceptical of this claim.

However, all is not lost. Rex has cracked the CFS3 code and the AI performance in P3 has been improved dramatically as illustrated by Pol's P3 movies that constantly taunt and tease us with shades of brilliance and cinematic excellence yet tantalisingly but disturbingly just out of reach of our grasping fingers ! :banghead: Gaaaa !

So until that comes along shoot 'em down. Good target practice. By all accounts you'll need it for P3.

Hello,
i experienced the same (and still do), most often i am not even being attacked, maybe one of 7 enemies does, until it then breaks off and begins to circle again. Even without shooting they mostly go down slowly circling until they crash sooner or later. This way i would be able to shoot down 8 Camels with a D VII, without being hit once.

As well AI planes are able to fly at 6500+ meters altitude, only to vertically dive until they are close to the ground - overspeed seems to be no problem for them.

I have tried OFF phase 2 on two different rigs, one with AMD 3000+ and a 9800 graphic card, 1 Gb memory; and one with an Intel dual proc. 2.28 GHz, 2GB memory and a 8400 - unfortunately there is no difference to be observed in the behaviour of the AI. The theroy of better AI on a better PC has not been observed by me.

We have discussed the AI behaviour often here, but i think and hope P3 cured that.

Greetings,

We have postulated that sometimes the AI gets stuck in a logic loop and can't break the routine, so it circles into the ground or keeps looping until it augers in. There have been several times when what should have been a dogfight turned into a comical airshow with bad results for the performers. But, as has been mentioned, the AI in P3 is light years ahead. Also, higher graphics settings seem to tell the program you have more processing power and it does better with the AI routines. Note I said seems. This has been corroborrated but never proven.

Thanks guys. Guess I'll just even more anxiously wait for P3. But as for now....if you cant beat 'em, join 'em. Let the circling commence.
