Going missing sometime today.

Ummm ... What size is your power supply? Mebbe you ain't got enough to run the new card?

Did ya remember to plug a power plug to the SLI energy source?

650 Watts should be enough, yep two 6-port power plug-ins on the 260 Snuffy.

I have been at it since 5 this morning. I have given up. I am taking the 260 back to CompUSA and get my money back. I have the good 8800 GTS going fine. I am going to step away from a da*n computer for a day. They get me shotgun mad at times. I have to start breakfast for the family and go to church so God will forgive me for all the expletives I have recited this morning.

Thanks for the help fellows, I followed all to a tee, but still get this message every time.

Are you 100% sure you have the right driver..64 or 32 bit one?

Code 43 is a driver error..It also has killed cards too from some reading I did this morning..

Yes..maybe we all need more Church time lately...:jump:

I hope you get it sorted..What an aggrivation it has become for you....

Are you putting the 260 as the first card? Being that it is the newer (most likely the faster) card it should be placed in the top pci-e dimm. I would start all over by having the 8800gts installed then go in and uninstall the display driver, physX driver and the stereoscopic 3D driver, once that is done I would boot into safe mode and use a driver cleaner making sure to include all the drivers from above (display, physX and stereo). Before you shut it down to install the 260, go in and delete any folder/files for nvidia. You can also check the registry for any keys left behind. Once that is done shut down the rig and install new card (in 1st pci-e dimm) then put the 8800gts in 2nd dimm (do not install the bridge for sli). Now when you bootup go into BIOS and turn off SLI, then boot into winders. Install the driver of choice and reboot.
Ive never heard of anyone able to SLI 2 different series of nvidia cards in SLI (I could be wrong :kilroy:), just never read or seen it done. You can set them up for physX, by making the 260 as the display card and 8800gts as the physX card. This can be setup in the physX control panel. Another thing to remember is FSX will not use SLI or Crossfire at all. Fsx is a "CPU" dependent sim/game and was setup to use at the time the new dual and quad core cpu's. One more thing is to delete or backup the fsx.cfg and let fsx rebuild a new one. When installing new drivers fsx will not delete the older entry for the display it will just write a new entry and this can cause problems. That 260 should run fsx great all by itself.

BB, I was trying to install the 260 as the only card, no SLI to the good 8800.

I am not going any further, I have a good operable computer on the one 8800, I am carrying the tower and new card back to Tiger Direct tomorrow. If they can install the new card and make it work, I'll keep it, otherwise, I'll get my money back and suck it up as a lost cause.

All I know, is I am through with it myself. I have had enough small frustrations this season. Long ago I came to the conclusion that it is not the big things in life that send a man to the nuthouse. Death, the death of a loved one, unemployment, the big things we prepare ourselves for. But it's that series of little things that can be capped off by a shoestring breaking on a hot Summer day that send a man to the nuthouse. I will go so far, but like olaf in eecummings i sing of olaf, glad and big, "this is some sh*t I will not eat". This is some of that "sh*t".

Amen!

I hope they sort it for you then...

I built a rig few weeks back with a Zotac 260 and it was brilliant...

My tech buddy George was out today and he had a go. He is almost sure the card is a the problem, bad that is. I'm taking it back tomorrow, but after the hades I went through with Tiger Direct's tech help last July, I do not want them toughing my unit again. Either they trade out for a new card or I get my money back. I may take my tower and if they call me a fool, I'll have to get up front and personal. I don't like any of the little snits that work there anyway and still feel I may have led to the last manager and this sleezy tech getting canned from a scorching letter I wrote to Tiger Direct's HQ and a carbon copy to the Durham BBB about my July fiasco. Service use to be one reason I used these people, sad to say that service is no longer applicable.

I am an easy going guy believe it or not, but I am Irish and I do have an Irish temper, push me too far and I can get plumb nasty.
