Thanks Richard!!!!

I haven't finished installing the Roy E. Ray airport scenery that I downloaded from Flightsim.com yet. There are quite a few required files needed with it; some of them FS9 types, and am making sure I install correctly. NC

FSX/FSX-SE Scenery--5R7-Roy E. Ray Airport
[ Download | View ]
Name: 5r7_roy_e_ray_field_al.zip

Very welcome

All in all it was a challenge but a lot of fun, too. I learned (for me) something new. If you look at the texture files, you'll see that they are all geometric shapes not recognizable pieces of the actual aircraft like other texture files I have used from other designers. I credit Divine Inspiration in the wee hours last night to open up the model with texture in Model Converter X and found that I could see where each part(s) was and know how to put the things like the Mobile Bay Observation Squadron emblem. Allowed me to finish it up properly. I just downloaded Roy E. Ray field too. Gotta go out, catch ya alll later.

Really need better grass textures, especially for the grass strip runway. Suggestions? Thanks. NC

About grass textures Chief.

I use the grass textures from
Rex HD Airports. They are by far the best.
Very real and there is a variety to chose from.

Great looking paint and sorry we did not make repainting easy for you folks. When re-model the aircraft to later this year, early next. We'll make sure a paint kit is included.

Just have to ask, when the aircraft is re-modeled, will those of us who had originally purchased it either receive the updated version without extra cost, or a discount on the new version? Thanks. NC

We always discount our models to the SOH community so have no fear the support you guys show us is always taken into consideration. There is plenty of time before we are at any decision on that matter

Thanks for that. I do apologize for my premature question about it. NC

WOW What a beautiful model

Hey, Spad54 in no way was my comment to Navy Chief a criticism of the beautiful Strearman75 you guys created. Or any of the other aircraft either. There are a lot of designers of aircraft I've gotten who don't make separate paintkits and the freeware doesn't have paintkits either. The aircraft is really beautiful and once I figured out how to open up the model and texture in MDCx, it was not a problem. Wish I had got the inspiration to do that earlier. It would have saved a few hours. Keep up the great work you guys are doing. Looking forward to new things in the future from Golden Age Simulations.:encouragement:

If a project isn't challenging then where is the fun?

Hi guys/gals will this aircraft work in P3DV4 ?

So far all of our models work in all version of P3D but we've not tested the Stearman. It was released in 2009. If you do decide to purchase it and it does not meet your expectations we'll refund your purchase price. Its no longer offered through our website but can be purchased from other vendors.

No need for an apology. I did not take your comment to mean anything. Mine was simply acknowledging that the way in which we textured the model made it very difficult to do repaints and we never repeated that method after that model was released.

Beautiful. :encouragement: Is this available for download somewhere?

Saw a Stearman at MHG this afternoon, in WW2 colors. Nice change from all the Cessnas and other modern GA stuff, but I honestly didn't expect one flying in the middle of Europe. Thought they were mostly a US thing.

They're most certainly the most plentiful WWII-era type flying today, and spread all over the world (and that's saying something, when there are roughly 600 or so AT-6's/SNJ's/Harvards flying in the world). I know a couple guys in both the US and UK which have restored close to 40 Stearmans to fly just between the two of them, not to mention all of the other companies and private individuals who have restored and/or are currently restoring Stearmans to fly (a local friend of mine already restored one to fly some years ago and is currently nearing the completion of his second). There are quite a number of flying Stearmans based in Germany - some on the German register, and some on the register of other countries, like the US. I believe Stearman N68296 is still based at MHG and may be the one you saw. Lots of them based throughout the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Czech Republic.
