Good news for CS 727 owners

Even better news is the 'menu.dll' error that I got with the 2.3 version is now solved.
Now I can finally fly the 727 again.

:applause:

I started her up, fired up the radar, and had storms going all around me, and the radar screen was clear, Im gonna have to read the manual a little bit

Still can't get the 727 to load, it now just crashes my sim when I select the aircraft.

Glad to know that! :salute:

:kilroy: but, now the "Captain_Sim.b727.menu.dll" is "Missing" from the v2.4 installation (the file is NO longer included) and therefore the Menu item does NOT show up in FSX's ADDON Menu. Is everyone else seeing this, too, or is it just me?

Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."

Thank you very much.

Yep. The 727 menu dissapeared here too. :isadizzy:
Created a topic in CS forum asking why. Let´s see ...

Might be caused by a missing Gaugesound.dll in the FSX main folder.

No, that file is present.

At first everything worked fine, but then I got a warning about the menu.dll; if I clicked yes to load it the sim would crash, if I clicked no the 727 wouldn't load. I thought my problems were fixed when I didn't get the error, but if I click on a thumbnail to select a 727-100 or -200 the sim stops responding and needs to be shut down. I don't remember this issue when I first purchased the 727, so I might try to find the original downlod again and see if that still works..
Beginning to think it might be win7 or 64-bit related..

Wow......I'm going to hold off on installing this update. My original version is working just fine so I can wait before trying this one.

Sorry for all the troubles I may have caused you guys by posting this.

No worries -G-!! :icon_lol::icon_lol:

And to to Mr. James F. Chams:
Can you post here the answer from your ticket in CS Site when it´s available? I think there is no need that i open one too, don´t you think? Thanks!!!! :salute:

Update: V2.2 works fine in W7/64; at start-up I get a message asking if I want to run the 'Captain_sim.p727.menu.dll' and then asks if I want to add it to the list of trusted software. Click 'yes' twice, select the aircraft, click three more times on 'yes' to add to add the gauges and presto, everything works.

With v2.3 I get a warning about the 'Captain_sim.p727.menu.dll' that it is incompatible with FsX. If I click 'yes' to run it anyway FsX hangs, if I click 'no' FsX works fine except the 727; FsX hangs if I try to load it.

With v2.4 I do not get the 'Captain_sim.p727.menu.dll' warning because it is not included, and I get just one gauge warning when selecting the aircraft. After that, FsX hangs.

Next attempt: Install V2.4 without uninstalling V2.2.

Ferry_vO,
Have you tried, uninstall the 727, delete fsx.cfg, reinstall 727?
(Doing a backup of course of the .cfg)

Sure; I'll post the answer here.... you can also get it when they answer it, if you do a search in the customer support section under the ticket number which I posted on their forums.

BTW: Mr. "Ferry_vO,"
The .dll file is just NOT included in v2.4 so, if you uninstall v2.x (previous versions) and reinstall v2.4 you'll be able to fly the 727 models just fine. I believe they excluded it for some reason without indicating "why"; at least that's my theory for now...

Later! :wavey:

No I can't, fsx crashes when I select the 727 with v2.4 as explained before.

Went back to v2.2 which works fine for me.

Mr. "Ferry_vO,"
I tried removing every line that mentioned 'Captain sim' or '727' from the FsX.cfg but still no go.
No, the file that you might want to remove statements from is the "DLL.xml" file; but ONLY change these statements to TRUE:-

...
<DISABLED>< Disabled >True< /Disabled >

OR</DISABLED>

<MANUALLOAD>< ManualLoad >True< /ManualLoad ></MANUALLOAD>
...

for the 'Captain_sim.p727.menu.dll' entry. DO NOT DELETE ANY FILES.

Also, if you are continuing to have issues, you should post a Ticket on CaptainSim's Support Forums.

Good Luck! :wavey:

for the 'Captain_sim.p727.menu.dll' entry.

Since this file is no longer included in V2.4 I don't think that's the problem..

As for CS support: Since they do not claim their software works on Windows 7 64-bit, I can guess their reply..

Right now I think the weather radar is the culprit: Looking at the system requiments page I found this:

- Windows XP or Vista 32bit (temporarily does not work on 64-bit)
