D-ATRA is an Airbus A320-232 with the construction number 659. It was formerly used by the Austrian charter airline "Niki". In 2006 the German aviation and space research organisation DLR bought this airliner. In Toulouse it was converted from a passenger to a research airliner by the Airbus Industry. In this time the plane was registered as F-WWDB. The DLR and Airbus have equipped the plane with a fuel cell that powers the rudder and replaces the APU in the plane. On ILA 2008 so the "FUEL CELL DEMONSTRATOR" was presented on static display.
