Finally! A infrequent, but so annoying bug with my system would cause some models to display 'dark'. The textures were showing, but the model had shadow over all or parts, and I'd be a pink baboon if I could find the cause. ND MD500, skycrane, MiG25PD, V.2 SeaVenom, and then the new S2F-unusable! After starring at the MDLconverterX report on the S2F for a few hours, looking for something, I noticed the 2 spec maps that were giving a problem were titled differently than the titles read directly from the model file. A '3' was deleted from the texture title. A quick rename. Poof. Fixed. Huh? Why were the maps renamed? Why has no one else run into this?
Dunno. wipe drool off chin. Look at SeaVenom. Hmmm. boom_L_R_spec called out in model file, no boom_L_R_spec map in the texture files. Fixed, finally. I have no idea at all why some spec maps are being deleted or re-named, or in one instance titled correctly but not displaying until it was re-named with EXACTLY the same title and spelling. :isadizzy:AND its NOT self inflicted, as one well intentioned 'expert' loudly proclaimed. But I know how to beat it now; and the latest iteration of the SeaVenom was worth the wait. So if you have a mysterious missing spec map issue, check the texture titles with model converter X.
