There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

1 - it took time for him to unlock it all, if they other guys had rushed and not "tapped" he wouldnt have been able to
2 - it wasnt even loaded when the guy got to the door
3 - the guy didnt even enter the room, just saw the barrel and ran, an airsoft rifle would have prolly worked as well
4 - police said the other guys had bb guns, they prolly would have run if you'd gone at them with knifes

So many "What if's" here.
What if the would-be robbers also had AR-15 rifles instead of BB guns?
What if one of the robbers felt threatened and opened fire?
What if a robber had taken the other student hostage?
What if the student had shot one of the robbers dead and found out that the guy only had a BB gun?
What if the guy had not managed to unlock his rifle and the robber had stolen that rifle to use it in his next crime?
Having guns around the house is not a good idea for most people - they are likely to make wrong decisions under stress!
It seems that everyone was very lucky in this situation!

One nice thing about a pump action shotgun is it doesn't have to be seen to be an effective deterrent. Just the sound of the action working somewhere in that dark, strange house is enough to say "uh-oh" to most people.
