GSLMan Issue

Hello CFS2 Experts,
Been a while since I have posted here. Hope all is well with everyone.
I recently ran into yet another FUN issue with CFS2 & GSLMan that I hope someone here will know how to help me with.
The issue is with GSLman by Martin Wright and adding new objects to the cfs2.gsl file.
The issue is basically this, each time I add a new "Area" of objects to an "Empty" GSL file in MB and then add this empty.gsl file to the cfs2.gsl file using GSLMan.exe it seems to "Over rite" all previously installed gsl objects. Leaving me with only the most recently installed objects from my "Empty.gsl file being able to be viewed in game.
Now I have tried a number of things to correct this. I have tried to re-install all previous gsl objects using GSLMan. Didn't help.
I have followed Lindsay Watts GSL Tutorial. Good Stuff Lindsay, your tutorials has saved me more then once. But this time it’s not helping.
Not sure if this is the issue: In GSLMan on the about tab it shows that I am missing the MWGOB.DLL. Now I have downloaded and installed the required DLL package from MW Graphics. The mwgob.dll is not included. I have also requested the CFS2 GSL tools from Martin but he has not yet responded. I don't think he supports CFS2 much anymore. That or I need to donate to get his attention. Not sure.
Anyway if anyone knows a work around or has a link to some GSL tools that could help me that would be awesome.
There is NO OTHER Combat Flight Sim LIKE CFS2!!!
Thanks for your time.

Steve,

Why are you adding a (.gob) to an empty .gsl, then trying to add this (.gsl) to cfs2.gsl?

The simpler method is:

back up cfs2.gsl (just in case!)
make a note of the gob file you are adding (just in case!)
use gslman to simply add the gob to your cfs2.gsl - it will overwrite anything with the same .gob reference if it exists, but won't delete anything else.

Hope this helps

I think everyone that uses this tool should be made aware of objects overwriting objects in the same gob aera. Everyone who uses gslman should have Martin's GSL Developer pack with its accompanying tutorial- which explains at the very beginning the very problem you are having. It includes three tools: GOBCheck- which checks the number of gobs in your MB layout file and automatically splits it into as many single gob layouts as necessary; GSLEdit (not to be confused with the built in MB GSL Editor) which allows you to insert MB layout files into the GSL- and lots of other cool stuff, too, all explained in the tutorial; and GSLManager- which is the tool you distribute with your gsl scenery so that the end user can add your gsl scenery.
Go to his web site
http://www.btinternet.com/~mnwright/
Go to Developers Corner and follow instructions about emailing him for the CFS2 GSL TOOLS.
Hope this helps
Sory jumped the gun .
He will respond.

If you use the "long method" as described in the downloaded instructions with MW's GSL Editor/layout checker - create a layout and then create the gob, you will still overwrite any existing gobs unless you combine them and, if necessary, divide them into 2 gobs as suggested by the program.

The problems you describe in your first post make me wonder: did you try a different GSL.Man (download)... the one you are using may be corrupted.

These are all great points thanks guys.

UncleTgt - To answer your question, Yes I tried this same method and it work's fine for a while until I got the message " Unable to open gsl\cfs2.gsl file/data was not saved". :173go1:

Robert John - I agree with you! "Everyone who uses GSLMan should have MW's GSL Developer pack with its accompanying tutorial".:jump:

Shadow Wolf 07 - Yeah I have a few differant copies of GSLMan that I have aquired over the years. Good point though thanks.:salute:

Thanks Guys.
