• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Hackers wanted $50,000 to keep Symantec source code private

Poor Symantec...i jumped that ship a loooong time ago...and they want US to pay for their net protection :icon_lol:..."physician, heal thyself"...

"Evidence at the time suggested that hackers found the code after breaking into servers run by Indian military intelligence"

You leave your source code on some one else servers? You should know better... This is what you get for being dumb, also Symantec don't taunt the dynamite monkey...

There are currently only 2 or 3 other Anti-Virus products on the market that use their own source codes for internet security and anti-virus protection. Alot of companies that have an anti-virus product, get their virus definition updates from Symantec. In short, it all comes from the same place, irregardless of who's product you are using.

Not so sure about the Symantec Source Codes found on servers run by Indian Military Intel... that sounds kinda flakey, but for all intent and purpose, it could very well be true.
