Harley do it right: break the Long Distance Jump record

:redfire:Thanks Hobbit, that's pretty amazing! Do you know if they are referring to the record for Harley jumps or all bikes, or a specific engine/weight class?

I got impression this was for all bikes..
Isn't that wild..
Leave it to a harley rider to do it again..
LOL..
Glad I ride a Harley..LOL..
They still hold many records.. including the cross country speed record for crossing the US..
Which has stood since the 80's and it was done on the..Then NEW XLH 883
I belive that was 86' or 87' Can't remember Which ..
Which surprised everyone..
That the "new" Harley set the record..
Easyrider did a story on it all..
But I have been riding a Blockhead since 86' and it has never failed me, and with well over
100,000 miles on Her..

:salute::salute:

i wonder if the bike was 100% harley, or just the engine. it doesn't really say.
when my hero was jumpin harley's they were mostly stock bikes.

Huh. I was flying over a deep canyon in southern Idaho on the SOH server last night and was thinking about him.
I see the SI cover is prior to his Snake River jump.
But I was a long ways away from the Snake River Canyon and my youthful days watching EK do this on live TV...

Always wondered what would have happened if that parachute hadn't deployed at the start. LOL.

What is that? Some kind of bad English??

Either Harleys do it right .... or Harley does it right.

:kilroy:

In the mean time I long to have my old fxe back.

Evel Kenevel,....truly the Last Gladiator. Even though he had made a mess of things at times for himself and others,...he was a man of his word. And he kept it.

I know. A few of my friends had the Evil Knievel Stunt Set.
I do remember eagerly asking for one in a store, and getting that usual roll of the eyes and the sarcastic laugh from my dear, sweet, mother, followed by, "Right...".

Pfft. Parents. What killjoys.

Of course I never do that.... :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

I dunno, for all the hype here ... as a kid I found it virtually impossible to build up enough speed on a bicycle to jump anything close to 10 feet without practically killing yourself or seriously damaging the twins.

:isadizzy:

Looks like its just for Harley...........

That dude made an amazing jump in that last vid...what a kook...lol

Ahhh harleyman does those jumps in his sleep!!! haha!!! j/k........Wow!!! very cool!! looks like he had room to spare.
Thanks for sharing this! Cheers!!

I'm not really up on my Harley Davidsons, and can't tell a Fatboy from a Sportster, but I think that was a Buell. Harley powered yes, but not really a production bike if it was. Still I couldn't do it on my bike or any bike for that matter, Big Jim and the twins mean too much to me.

when i was a kid, long before they were jumping huge jumps on bicycles or making bicycles that were capable of huge jumps, i was attempting some rather spectacular feats. you know you're landing hard when you can break a frame. i have have personal knowledge of what that guy felt like on the wide world of sports intro where they said "the agony of defeat" :icon_lol:

Only applies to the 'Highly Dangerous' label.
And FTR, the engine was HD, not sure about the frame etc but the suspension was 'out sourced'.
The landing was a nut cracker .......:icon_eek:

HeHe Big Jim and the twing...too funny.

Yea..it probably was a Buel to start with for sure........ Funny little bikes..not a real Harley..neighter is that ugly V-rod...LOL

..neighter is that ugly V-rod...LOL

i agree about the buell, but for different reasons. (i suspect)
i wish less people felt that way about the v-rod though. harley had deep pockets, and if they had encouragement that they could sell something that was actually fast and good handling, i bet they could turn out a pretty cool sportbike. as much as folks like cruisers, (especially me) don't forget that the sportster was a race bike when it was initially released.
