A question for those flying the Starship in FS9. Does your HSI function normally? In FSX, as long as I fly straight and level, it operates the way it should, but any turns, climbs, dives, etc causes it to go haywire (see image below).

I fly it in FS9 and haven't seen any display problems at all.

A very nice exterior model!
As Falcon mentioned, the HSI issue also appears to be in FS9 (intermittently), mainly after changing AC during flight.
The complete [light] section needs re-writing, as the fx files mentioned are not included.

A bigger deal however is the FDE. The .air file is based on a 2001 Canadair CL-215.
The AC geometry and weights & balance in the cfg reflect this in the flight characteristics - apart from the high speeds.
I have experimented with several options without success.
I can live as it is though, as I really like this family project, especially the exteriors. :applause:

Just an update. . . .maybe someone can look at the texturing and confirm what I've found, or maybe disprove it (which would be appreciated also). I cannot find any conventional way to do additional liveries for this airplane. I'm actually surprised that no one else has taken a stab at doing one and found it difficult to figure out. The developers seem to have depended, in large part, on small blocks of color to render the airplane, rather than full texture plates for such things as the fuselage, wings, control surfaces and vertical and horizontal stabs, lol. I see no way to do anything beyond what was supplied with the airplane.

The only thing that makes any sense (at least to me) is that they failed to include some textures when they zipped everything up. However, since there are no credits and no contact information supplied in the readme, there may not be any way to do anything other than fly it and enjoy having a Starship with a VC. Too bad.

Finally heard from Matt Stanova. He was aware of the airfile being from a different airplane, his Dad handled the FDE and that was the best he could do at the time. Anyone interested should jump on the airfile and do some magic. He's going to get a membership here at SOH so he can communicate directly. As for the texturing, he apologized for the rudimentary texturing, but at the time they did this airplane (several years ago), his texturing technique was amateurish at best. I have questioned him about the possibility of revisiting the Starship to maybe update some of the things that need fixing. No response as yet.:salute:

Ok, a bit more from Matt. If you are interested in doing any mods for the Starship, (airfiles, sounds, etc) send me a PM and I'll give you Matt's e-mail addy. I don't want to post it live.:salute:

Hey, just got a membership. Nice Pics Ferry_v0! I really like that belly shot. We were working on making this plane work with fsx, back when microsoft released it in 2006. Im a bit rusty, haven't been modding or flying much recently. I do believe that bug in the HSI is xml code that needs to be re-worked for the FSX version. When we unpacked it, a few things went corrupt and missing (including the AIR, flight dynamics etc). So we patched it up and released it, not knowing about a few issues.
Okay, I remember something about the textures...The Rockstar Starship Paintjob has a seperate MDL model file, with different texture mapping..(so the stars and cosmos could be painted across the fuselage and wings) I hope this helps. The stripes going down the side were cut into the fuselage, and the uvs for those faces were in fact , placed onto tiny coloured squares.

Welcome to Sim-Outhouse Matt, glad to see you in here.:salute:
