A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 1 Add-Ons

Description: The German Technical Museum in Berlin, in around 2012, acquired an original unit of this 1944 futuristic German bomber-interceptor jet built by Heinkel Flugzeugwerke, who called it "Spatz" (sparrow). The project name was "Salamander", and government propaganda called it "Volksjäger" (people´s fighter). Built mostly of wood, as raw materials became scarce towards the end of WWII, its single dorsal 1800 flb BMW 003E-1 single-spool axial-flow turbojet engine gave a top continuous speed of 521 mph with 1760 flb thrust, and 562 mph in short 2028 flb boost bursts. 250 units were built only 3 months before the end of the war, but did not affect the outcome. Despite teething problems in an otherwise sound design, it was the basis for future development of jet aircraft in several countries. Famous test pilot William Benson called the He-162 a first class fighter aircraft. Smooth movements on the part of skilled pilots were required to control this aircraft.

This release has been revised and improved for CFS1 and includes SCASM-corrected virtual cockpit, AFX, PCX and SCX source files, modified Lear45 Panel with modified custom gauges. (Some originally by John Valley, Jerry Beckwith and Dragonflight Design)

Textures re-worked by Udo Entenmann.

By Stephan Scholz.
