heli and landing platform question

It's happening consistently so I know it's not a one off. When approaching a platform on an oil rig everything is going fine but as soon as the heli is over the platform it gets "sucked" down hard on to the platform. I expect that it would ballon up due to the sudden ground effect but the opposite keeps happening. I am not lowering the collective when this happens and need to add more and quick. I just don't understand the physics behind this. Any heli pilots here that can explain what is happening? Is it a bug in the msfs physics? I did not notice this until my landings started getting better and I'm trying to improve them even more.

Thanks, LouP

This is weird because I clearly remember my helicopters ballooning as soon as I get above the platform, as expected.
That being said, I haven't tried landing on a platform recently... could be that a bug got introduced in a recent sim update ?

I would put it on the lack of accurate helo physics in MSFS. You are basically approaching in an out of ground effect hover transitioning to the in-ground effect over the platform. Not sure if you have real weather on, but the "suction" should not be happening, but who knows how the wind models are developed in game for oil rigs.
