Hi all

Rather then trawl the internet using keywords and loading up different websites to find nothing I thought i'd rack the interlect of the outhouse :salute:

Im looking for an scenery of an airfield that is small with a single runway, can accept the likes of F-100s and such like but not big enough to accept tubeliners and is frame rate friendly to use as a homebase for my video making

Also to the gauge gurus out there is there a way to make invisble gauges to activate vortices and engine smoke dependin on G's pulled and throttle %..if so is it also possible to create them wiv varying attributes ie 2Gs, 3Gs, 4Gs activated by navigation lights and 70% exhaust on,
80% exhaust on, 90% exhaust on and so forth on the throttle

Im a complete idiot when it comes to this stuff so any help would be grately appreciated in creating them :isadizzy:

Thanks
Matt

Really don't have any suggestions for the scenery...most of the scenery I install is for small GA, bush flying stuff.

As far as the gauges go....yes...it is possible to have invisible gauges to control wing tip vortices, and various exhaust effects at various throttle positions. The Alphasim freeware F-105 and F-107 come with XLM gauges that do that....and since they are freeware, they can be modified to fit your needs...just takes a bit of study and head scratching to figure it out.

Oh, when you open the XLM files to read/study/modify them...open them with Notepad.

Off the top of my head Camarillo just over the mountains north of LAX would be a good choice. Before it was turned over to the present operators it was USAF base. It has a single runway, I have never seen a tube operate there and is home to a few warbirds including a C-46.

There is a freeware file at Flightsim.com and maybe at AVSIM. Just search Camarillo.

Hi,

Check this:

[SIZE=-1] FS2002/FS2004 FX: Nick's Touchdown and Vortex FX. Hold on to your hat! When those big boys touch down they don't just chirp-n-smoke the tires... that pillow of air under those wings has to go somewhere. With Nick's Touchdown and Vortex FX's you get to see it and if you're close enough to the action, choke on it as well! The provided touchdown and vortex effects are designed for all weather conditions and usually enhance wet pavement landings. Three custom scaled FX files cover large scale military and civilian transports, Airbus, 777's, 747's, 737's, MD's, 727's along with large and small Learjets. Users of Nick's Prop Dust can also use Nick's Touchdown with Vortex FX to enhance their large prop aircraft on dry asphalt and concrete runways. Installation requires running the auto-installer and making a minor edit to the aircraft.cfg file. After a great flight wouldn't it be nice to end it with the realistic WoooooooOOSH that Microsoft left out of Flight Simulator? Now you can be blown away with every touchdown! FS9 and FS2002 EFFECTS: Nick's Jet Smoke ***FINAL EDITION***

This update is the FINAL VERSION of my smoke effect project. It is the result of weeks in tweaking and testing. Coupled with the enormous amount of feedback provided by the community the effects have developed into this awesome upgrade which I personally endorse and use. This update contains and entire list (see Readme) of visual quality fixes which include resolving issues coupled with using the simulator dynamic weather feature while running the effects and frame rate issues from the first update. It also includes a complete tutorial on how to tweak the visual effects and the original .xml gauge to your personal taste.

I think some of the POSky packages come with vortex effects and the corresponding gauges, but I believe that they depend on angle of attack. This to me would be more realistic anyway, since you'd get the vortices on final approach in addition to high G loads - which result in high angle of attack anyway.

As far as which ones come with the effects, I really couldn't say - it's pretty much hit and miss.

We also have some pretty tallented XML tweakers around here that may be able to help too. Rob (rcbarend) was nice enough to whip up a small gauge code string for me a short while back - he may be able to do something for you here. Somethink like "if the angle of attack is greater than 5°, then the logo lights are on" with the logo lights tied to a vortex effect. Or if you don't need the smoke system for anything else, that would be triggered instead...

Hi,

All needed is in my post !!
And all in those gauges - effects .. can be tweaked
It's a tutorial how make it in the Nik smoke mod.

Never seen that by default in the Posky planes(I have all the Posky planes and models)

In addition to the above recommendations there are these available:

Tim "Piglet" Conrad's OV-10 has the ICFX gauges (i think). Wingtip vortices at 1, 1.33, 1.50, 1.75, 2, 2.50 G's, Flap vortex and exhaust smoke.
icfx002.zip at avsim By I. Candymaker

The ICANDY gauges---- search avsim with "I. Candymaker" (they are fs2002 gauges but operate just fine in fs9)
Krazysgauges
The Roger Dial Reno Mustang package with wingtip vortex at 2G, 3G, and 4G's (or rollrate). Can be used in freeware packages as stated within the xml's.

SkyUnlimited has some with their packages.
