SceneryTech is okay, although, in urban areas, it tends to have a bit too much vegetation.

GEX doesn't do landclass!

They don't say landclass anywhere...

yeah its funny they dont mention landclass...but the textures they have enhanced are scenery textures - so while GEX doesnt change landclass - an FSX forrest is a GEX forrest - the GEX forrest textures are better.

so while GEX doesn't change where the forrests and cities and deserts are - it DOES make them all look better.

I highly recommend GEX if you want your terrain to look better but dont necessarily want to relocate it

I have STech and it is nice but I prefer cloud9's landclass, I just like it better. I'm running Adam Mills freeware ground textures with UTX and Cloud9 and just got the FSglobal Mesh

I have Scenery Tech, Cloud 9, and FSGenesis for the US. I mostly fly in the northeast and I find FSGenesis by far the best for that area. With the others there were too many small villages that didn't appear at all.

I do use Cloud 9 for other parts of the world.

Got GEX, helped some but it dosn't do Central valley Ca, very well. There are forests in the valley and still to much desert, but all and all not to bad, crops are more uniform and much better looking. I may get the rest of UTX. Thanks guys!!!

In my experience there are pros and cons with every product:

for europe I use SceneryTech, this realy improves the overal look and places cities more correctly and reduces desertification in southern europe, BUT:
SceneryTech is okay, although, in urban areas, it tends to have a bit too much vegetation
I second that!
The same trouble with MyWorld landclass!

Moreover I use replacement textures:

This takes a away another part of those desert-textures, BUT - apart from being great over all - creates a more tundra-like "greenish" desert in places that somehow doesn´t look right either!

It´s all a matter of what you like and what flaws you can live with!

I think I'm using the updated landclass in Ultimate Terrain at the moment. It might not be correct for the US and CA packs, I don't know, but I've been able to navigate VFR, including using towns and villages for reference, so far in the UK, Ireland and France (aka the places I have charts for!)

I do have SceneryTech Europe and it is installed, but turned off in scenery.cfg - there were some fairly serious errors in it in areas I know well, which UTX seems better at, if not perfect. Either are a major improvement over the default, though.

I also use Adam Mills' freeware textures for Europe.

I installed all 5 (?) of the Scenery Tech LC products and do like the change they make. They are also pretty reasonably priced.

There is a thread over at Flight1 Forums (the GEX or UTX forum I think) that compares screen shots of the same area with Scenery Tech LC, FSGenesis US LC, X-Class LC, and the default FSX LC. Differences range from subtle to noticeable. I'm pretty sure the screenies were the work of Nick_N.

Also if I remember correctly, with UTX LC the focus is on urban landscapes, with Scenery Tech the emphasis is on rural landscape aspects, or is it the other way around?

I'll have to look into that, I think I got it (FSG LC) as a free dl when I purchased the mesh package covering the globe, but never got around to installing it as I already had the Scenery Techs. Since I live in the northeast could be a nice addition. Just got to remember to turn one off when running the other. Thanks for the input.

Yeah, I have them both installed in the FSX scenery library so it's simple to switch from one to the other with just a couple of clicks.
