Help with ETO expansion Bf110s

Is it my install, or does anyone else have a problem with the loadouts in the BF110Gs contained in the recent ETO expansion update? Whenever I choose a loadout, the game crashes which suggests missing pylons. Moreover, I cannot see any pylons dedicated to BF110s in the pylons or shared folders.

Any help would be great.

Usually, you'll get a crash, if 'something' (pylon, weapon, gun) is written into the damage profile, and you don't have it installed.

Simple check, though. Open the a/c's .xdp, and carefully go through it.

Any, and all, pylons, weapons, bombs, guns, etc. the a/c uses are written in the .xdp, at various locations.
Just make sure you have each item, exactly how the item is named.

One other type thing that can cause a crash, just for example...is like a certain 'gun'. In each gun .xdp, is written which bullet (or shell) that it uses. If that bullet, or shell, is missing, the sim crashes.

I think it is a pylon issue. The loadouts for the bf110g2, for example, require "pylon_r_gerdroptank", "pylon_l_gerdroptank" and "pylon_gc50etc". I can't seem to find those in the install. All of the affected aircraft came with the most recent ETO Expansion update.

:wavey:I just checked all my bf110s, All of em work fine with the weapons load outs. I'm in the proccess of checking all the the other planes now,:friday:So far, there are no issues. The only strange thing I had with installing ETO 1.20 was this part.

"You will have to manually delete the viewUI.xml from your C:\Documents and Settings\"your name"\Application Data\Microsoft\CFS3 ETO Expansion_________ folder for the new viewUI.xml to take effect."

When I opened that folder \Application Data\Microsoft and there was'nt an CFS3 ETO Expansion_________ folder there :faint: There was a folder called Combat Flight Simulator CFS which had the ETO viewUI.xml and ETO stuff in it
I deleated it and the sim worked just perfect.:jump:

Something went wrong with your install or after the install. I just checked the master install files and also installed the 1.20 update autoinstaller to a dummy folder and the pylons you mention are present in both cases.

I would suggest that you install 1.20 again over your installation. Just make sure you are in Era 1 before doing so.

:kilroy:Wsmwsm, yes, make sure that you are in Era 1 before re-installation and that the Spawn Selector is set to 1, Stock Spawn Mode before installation.:d

Old Tiger, did you perform the 'multicfs3' operation? naming yer folder "CFS3 ETO Expansion" (which winds up bein' "CFS3 ETO Expansion________" BTW)?

I went back and reinstalled update 1.2. The problem is gone. The missing pylons now show in the pylons folder.

Thanks all.

You should have a CFS3 ETO Expansion________ Folder in your install. It looks like multicfs3.exe didn't run or was not set up to create the folder.

Presently your eto install is saving your settings in your Combat Flight Simulator 3 folder. i.e. uisel.xml, viewui.xml, configoverides.xml, etc. Not a problem until you open your CFS3 and the uisel is set for an airbase or aircraft which is not in your stock CFS3 install.

You should be able to correct the problem by running the multicfs3.exe in your ETO main directory and typing in CFS3 ETO Expansion.

To correct your stock cfs3 install application folder just delete the uisel.xml

hi rbp, like tiger I also have no CFS3 ETO Expansion_ in my application data directory and when I run the multicfs3 in the ETO main install it says the folder it's referrering to as the "storage" place of all my data is the one called (and I have it) Combat Flight Simulator 3_.
I had already created this one running the multicfs3.exe some time ago, before ETO Exp came.
I did not have problem with ETO (not yet installed the 1.20) so I wonder, I'd like to keep my other self made install of course, what I'm supposed to do: rename it to CFS3 ETO Expansion_, deleting then the viewui.xml or retain it as it is but deleting the uisel.xml in the original (stock) Combat Flight Simulator 3 or somethig else?
what a puzzle... thks a lot you all!

Each theater should have its own folder to store that theater's specific settings when you leave the game. That's the purpose or function of the multicfs3.exe program to create that folder and point the theater in that direction to save the settings. If you don't set it up that way there is the possibility of opening a theater which does not have the same aircraft or airfield and you will get a CTD. Then you would have to go into the application data folder and delete the uisel in order to start up. When doing that you loose all previous settings.

So bottom line is that you need a folder for each of your different theaters.

hope that helps.

hi rbp. maybe I'm dumb...
the folder you are referring to should be in the main ETO install or in the application data folder? of course in my main ETO install I have the various 1943uires, 1944uires, bobuires and so on but no era folders in no CFS3 ETO Exp_______ in the data application folder.
And when I change the name of the folder in data application from Combat Flight Simulator 3_____ to CFS3 ETO Exp_____ where am I supposed to save the settings of my other install?
Will this renaming of the folder be able to solve my apparently uncomprehensible issue?
However, until now I never suffered a CTD in ETO....and most of the time I leave ETO with an aircraft or airbase which are not present in my stock install.
I can't undestand how I do not have the CFS3 ETO Exp_______ in my data application folder and still my sim works well (to tell all I never play stock CFS3 so maybe that is why I get no CTD whatever...)

The CFS3 ETO Expansion folder that I refer to should be in your applications folder. You do not want to rename the Combat Flight Simulator 3 folder. In order to get a CFS3 ETO Expansion folder you run Multicfss.exe from within your ETO main folder and type the name CFS3 ETO Expansion into the pop-up box.

ok rbp done! sorry for the question....
mmh just another silly one if I may: should I have to delete the viewui.xml after having installed 1.20 version and before running it?

G

Wait. No reason to not ask the questions and your question is not silly.

It doesn't matter when you delete the viewui.xml from the applications data\microsoft\CFS3 ETO Expansion folder. A new one will be generated when you start up the theater the next time. Just make sure not to delete the viewui.xml in the Main CFS3 ETO Expansion folder.

hi rbp, couldn´t answer until now so I want to thank you indeed!
all is working perfectly, just I´d like to know, if you can help me,
what happens if I import the stock aircrafts from the 1.02 version (the ones I´ve modded changing air and cfg files).
I indeed did that and tried them out and except the b 25´s (ligths lacking) all of them have lights, g trails (the ETO effects as I think) and of course the behaviour inducted by mudpond (only air and cgf) files.
Is this ok so far as you can say or am I missing something, because of something new due to 1.20?
I´d better install the 1.20 version again and change then those files?
best regards, gianluca
PS stock for me are only those coming from CFS3 (the very oriinal ones) not the stock ETO which did included these and much others.

Hi G,

The only new addition to the stock aircraft for the 1.20 update was a new virtual cockpit model for the P47d razor back.

If you take the FM files etc and place them in the 1.20 P47d folder and then copy over the rest of your stcok planes in their entirity to your 1.20 install you should be fine.

although with your modded files you will not be able to joina MP game.

HTH's

regards Rob.

hi captain! I did install 1.20 one more time (just to be sure and before reading this!) and then added the air and cfg files from mudpond: all's well, just some time wasted....
thks a lot you all!
