Help!!

I was having trouble with FS Repaint not working in hardware mode. It was suggested to me that the drivers were the issue. I uninstalled my ATI drivers, cleaned the registry, rebooted. I then installed the latest Radeon Omega drivers. All went fine.

Although FS Repaint still did not work right. I was messing with the settings for the drivers and trying to alleviate the troubles to get the Abacus software to work.

There was a default setting "fast writes" which was turned on. I decided to turn it off. When I did the PC went nuts. It said it had to reboot to test the settings, So I let it.

Since then, the PC has fail to load up all the way. It goes through bios settings as normal and takes me to the logon screen. I type in my password and it continues on. It loads all the way to my desktop back ground and seems like all is fine.

Then it reboots!! Every time I try, it just reboots.

Here's the kicker. How do I get to safe mode so I can uninstall them dang drivers? :kilroy:

I'm running XP Home / SP3

F8 Takes me to the Please select Boot Device screen.

Options:

Floppy
Hard Drive 1
Hard Drive 2
CD
DVD

There are no options to get to safe mode.

Any other suggestions?

Hmm, ok. It actually booted all the way to the desk though. That's what's strange. Once it got to the desktop, it rebooted before any icons were shown.

I'll give it a try. BRB

OK...got it. Seems strange. By hitting the F8 key it took me to the select boot device screen. There was no option for safe mode. I thought, I wonder what happens if I hit the F8 key again....and BAM. It went to safe mode.

EDIT

Well, going to safe mode didn't help matters any. Something else must be wrong.

Well, I thought all was good. It loads the safe mode menu, and I can choose the options. It still continues to reboot at the desktop. Just to make sure the VC is not getting hot, I've blown the dust out of everything.

Powered up, got to desktop and reboots still. I'm beginning to wonder if my VC has went kaput

Upon further diagnosis I tried another known good video card. It still reboots at the desktop background.

I also notice that when the boot cycle changes from Bios to the Windows XP screen (with the blue bar), that it's very dim at first. Then it gets a little brighter, then a little bit more bright, then normal brightness. Which makes me think the PSU is bad?

I checked all the memory. It's A-OK
