Bill, did you notice at the bottom of the screenshot page? Made on a Mac. They must have been thinking of ya.
I doubt they were thinking of me. More like I have been studying them. :d
Thats cool to hear Michael. That makes you one of our first FS'rs to make it into XP9, though indirectly through the help of a fan.
If you figure out a good work flow on conversions, could you post your work on it? I would be very interested.
One major problem is that we (in FS land) use a gazillion textures, while in XP9 land, they are limited to 4 or 5 or 7, (I forget how many the limit is at. They keep it low as Austin told me personally that it was for faster frame rates in the sim).
I noticed that Apple media usually involve PNG's. DId you know XP9 uses PNG's for textures? I found that pretty wild. No special conversion equipment to both flip, convert, add converted-shuffled-flipped-inverted Alpha channels.
I would say they are in the stages of FS2000 right now, just coming out of their own FS98 era, learning to do VC's now. They also now have the ability to make a seperate hidden 'aerodynamic model' so you can make a Gmax model of any shape, and convert and Voila...
Their two major 3D design engines for XP9 is Blender and Aircraft Creator, (which a demo comes with the XP9 CD's). I think ACC is about $39.00, cant remember that either.
I call XP9, the 'Undiscovered Territory'. :d Fertile lands ready to be tilled and harvested. Tons of enthusiasts crawling up the walls waiting for high detail models and scenery...
