Hey OBIO!! Focke-Achgelis 223 upgrade candidate

FA 223

By golly that is a good idea. It was a great helo in FS 8 and CFS 2. I'd love to fly it in FS 9.

Of course nothing is impossible for the man who doesn't have to do it, so I hope that you can find the time in your scheldule to look at it Obio.

I have the package downloaded and will take a look at it in the next couple of days.

Thanks OBIO for taking the time to look at this aircraft, I for one look forward to trying her out once you are done with her.

I took at a look at the FA223...and there isn't much I can do to improve her. There is no rotor blur texture....the rotor blur is part of the MDL file....the best I can do is to mod the MDL materials for the spinning rotors to make them lighter and more transparent. I can swap out the gauges on the 2D panel...but the VC is a dead end. It is not a dynamic VC....meaning there is no way to put working gauges on the VC panel. Without access to the source code...and the required skills to do the work....there is no way to add the "projection screen" to the VC to add working gauges. It is an interesting aircraft for sure....but is too old and too lacking in developmental stages to be updated and improved much.

I can swap the gauges for proper German gauges...sort of...since this bird appears to be set up as a turbine powered helo, I would need a WW2 era set of turbine/jet gauges....and I don't think I have any.

OBIO

Well it may be set up as such to work in FS but in reality it was powered by a BMW radial engine. So regular piston engine gauges should work fine.

Limited as the package may be due to it's age, I would certainly like to see what you can do to make it just a tad bit better.

In a whirly bird I do not mind a inactive VC as much, since most of the flying is true VFR with only power and fuel gauges occasionally checked. In FS that is.

Cheers
Stefan
