I used the CPNS9700 LED and I bought it from MicroDirect here in the UK.
 
May I recommend a Xigmatek S1283 as well?

Cheaper, but better than the older CPNS9700LED.
 
Thanks guys, I'll look into both of them. In the meantime, I found that simply popping the sidecase open a little, the temps drops about 5 deg C.

One more thing, about how much of a temp drop could I expect over the stock fan?

Edit, back to sidecase closed. Seems the drop was temporary, as it ended up raising the temp by about 5 deg C over time. Guess the case is designed to help with airflow in mind to keep things cool.
 
Oh yea...

...do these fans come with software to allow direct control over fan speed? For whatever reason, the updated VISTA version NVidia cotrol panel removed many options that used to be included (adjusting voltages, controlling fan speed, adjusting case lighting, etc...)
 
Not sure if the fans will come with software to control fans, but you can get speedfan and do it. Also make sure your case is big enough for some of these cpu coolers, some are rather tall. I also recommend getting some AS5 thermal paste, this will help with temps to.

The Tuniq Tower is another cooler worth checking out. It comes complete with a fan controller too. I've used them on all of my home build rigs and have found that it can out-perform many liquid cooling setups (eg Coolit Freezone, Koolance etc)

I get a permanent performance bonus with the case open, that's why my PC is half-naked ever since I started overclocking two years ago.

I *do* still have six 80mm fans (four up front, two in the back) installed though, just to keep that lazy air a bit in motion.
Unfortunately, my case is rather badly designed. The front fans can't simply cope with the "air burn" of my CPU, because the intakes at the front of the case are way too small.
However, they do cool my HDDs pretty well.

...Joe got it right.

Normally your mainboard controls fan speed if the fan supports it (mine doesn't), but if you like to be in full charge, Speedfan is the way to go.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about noise emissions. If it's loud, it is cool and if it is cool, I am happy. :d
