I took this picture today while driving across South Dakota. As soon as I saw this plane I knew I had to take a pic of it for you!

Thanks!!

It's nice to see they have been taking care of it. That gunship gray paint turns nearly ghost white after only a few short years. Most of the models we sent to static display are gross looking now.

How's the trip going?

Most of the planes there look more like this one, which is sad. The B-1 must be a relatively new arrival...

Trip is going good, thanks. Half way there, more or less!

This is at Ellsworth, right? I've been there a few times, but not since there was a B-1 on static. That was before we started throwing jets away like yesterday's trash.

.
Indeed, Ellsworth, 100 miles straight north of me here.
Watch the B-1b Lancers fly over a lot. They've actually
been there for quite some time. Loud suckers too. There
was a place in north central Wyoming on the training path
out of Carswell where the Buff bombers would be on their
15 hour, low-level missions. Great to park out there & watch
for them... though on the moonless night there were other
big ones coming over, always in pairs. B-2s, no doubt, back in
the mid-90s. Very distinctive sound, incredible experiences all.
.

Glad you took the time to stop and browse around the vintage birds at Ellsworth!
Yeah, a vintage Bone...it sounds kinda weird since they're still a young plane especially compared to the B-52s that still rattle windows around here! LOL

It's been a while since I've been down around the RC/BlackHills area. Need to get down there again someday to check that B-1 out myself!

I used to see the BUFFs at low level just north of Douglas, Wyoming. They were flying to the west at that point in their route.
