HH-3F sounds

I've run into a major roadblock trying to replace the stock Bell 206 sounds that came with Capt Quai's HH-3F. No matter what sounds I put into the aircraft folder - whether it's a complete sound file, or an alias that slaves to a master sound file in a "sounds" folder in the sim that otherwise works fine - I get no sound at all for the engines. All other sounds - doors, gear retraction/extension, etc - work fine - just no engine sound. Any ideas what might be causing this?:mixedsmi:

I had a similar problem a while ago. Turned out that for some strange reason (I haven't a clue what reason) the sound.cfg had disappeared from the sound file. When I copied that sound.cfg from my backup into the sound file all was normal again.

BTW, what I always do when I want to replace (stock) sounds, I first rename the (stock) sounds folder before dropping the new sounds folder into the aircraft folder. (but I assume you do that also)

Cheers,
Maarten

Maybe you need to change the aircraft.cfg entry, depending on the sound you are using.

[GeneralEngineData]
engine_type = 3 //0=Piston, 1=Jet, 2=None, 3=Helo-Turbine,

Some of my helicopter sounds only work on engine type 1 or 5!

Maarten/Stuart - First off, thanks for the tips. Double-checked the sound config, the basic cfg was in the file, so that was covered; next step was go into the aircraft cfg and check that sound type; sure enough, it was shown as "3" (turbine) vice "5" (turboprop). A change to the sound type, and we were off into the wild blue yonder, for a quick test flight:

Thanks again for the help!

Gotta admit I'm a little distracted; I go today to a local 2-year college for orientation into a training program for a medical support function; at age 59 I am changing my life's direction and heading off into a new career path. I haven't been to any kind of extended formal schooling in 26 years!
