hidden airliner rooms - did not know that

Yep, just the sort of high quality "journalism" I'd expect from a guy (see last picture) who dresses like he's going to a back-alley gym and then takes his shoes off for the benefit of his fellow passengers - OK, so maybe he needs his toes to help him count the words in his article...

Crew rest quarters date back probably at least as far as the trans-oceanic flying boats but weren't mandated until long-haul jet flights started bumping up against legislated duty hours. Of course, that was before the internet so who knew...?

As for being "hidden", they are simply off limits to pax, who rarely care about anything ( including the safety briefing) except whether there's in-flight Wifi.
 
a friend of mine flies 767s for UPS ,his normal route is from Anchorage to Shanghai,i don't know how long it takes or anything,but we were talking crew size,he told me that on some routes he takes,there are two crews,what got me was when he said hes so glad he doesn't fly passenger aircraft as the crew relief quarters on the planes he flies for UPS are like castles compared to the model passenger planes .he also told me that two weeks ago he flew to a place in the middle east (he was filling in for another pilot or some such,he had said it was his first time there for UPS) and that he had to carry several thousand dollars in cash for certain airport fees. he added that when hes on his normal scheduled flights,its all either prepaid or transactions are done with credit card.
 
Guys flying aid into some African countries have to carry a roll of 100 dollar bills to pay for everything from security to getting the aircraft chocked. Horrific corruption at the top means the men at the bottom have to do what amounts to extortion.
