History of B-17G 43-38834

Windrunner's excellent re-paint is exactly what I need for a bit of a different project.

I have built a real 138" flying B-17 model and I want to use that color scheme.

Researching hard, but I have only found a few oblique references to this plane and no documentation of nose art or history.

Can anybody help me?
