Hmmm, Interesting!

Something I noticed a couple days ago and never investigated closely. . . .I noticed what I thought were little tiny houses on the landscape, upon closer investigation I found what you see in the images. I assume they're supposed to be vegetation, given the criss-cross nature of the textures, but instead they have object textures attached. Also, Avatar had it's floating mountains. . .I have my floating towns, lol. Finally, speaking of towns, I have noticed that unlike FSX, P3D has no representation of small towns. I'm speaking only of a small area that I'm familiar with locally, not the entire sim. We have at least half a dozen towns within a twenty to 30 mile radius and in FSX, while the buildings looked more like downtown NY than these small Texas towns, they were still obvious from the air. Right now, everything melts together. It just appears as one long expansive forest with lots of houses but very little if anything that could be mistaken for a town. Any ideas on these few "found" oddities?

Okay...the odd ground textures that appear to be object textures rather than shrubs was apparently tied to the "Anisotropic" setting. Mine was set at the lowest level and when I raised it to the highest, these little devils went away, lol. The Floating houses. . .still there but they pop up randomly each time I load the sim. . .and sometimes not at all. All obviously tied to settings I am tweaking and possibly tied to the amount of VRam on my card (2Gig) which LM folks say is low end. Sucks to have to get another card this soon after getting the new rig, but 4gig is what it's going to take to really get some of these little irritations cleared up, lol.

Falcon, this bug is well known and you are not the only one to get it ;)
The temporary solution given by the guys at LM is to change the texture resolution setting in the graphics options of the game to the lowest value, get back in the cockpit, and then change it back to your previous value. It's a bug in the texture loading process or something...

But I assume the lack of small towns being represented is still a problem? Pete

Yea Pete, and I have to say it's a personal observation based on how these areas were displayed in FSX. We don't have 20 story buildings in Sherman or Denison, lol. . .or any of the smaller towns for that matter and that's what I saw a lot of in FSX, but there are concentrations of buildings that are obvious from the air in the real world. That isn't something I see in the sim right now. At least not in the area of North Texas I'm familiar with.
