Hi All,

Just a Heads up and a request for advice/ opinions on what I've been working on lately Just recently I've been rekindling my interest in all things carrier based and have begun to Knock up this repaint of one of the more obscure post war carriers using Joel Maillot's Arromanches as a basis. HMS Warrior was one of the few Colossus class carriers to be fitted with an angled flight deck whilst still in Royal Navy Service. Although this was mainly for trials work. In 1957 she embarked a handful of Avengers and a ships flight of 4 Westland Whirlwinds and operated as flag ship for the Operation Grapple nuclear tests before being sold to Argentina in 1958. In lieu of a 50's RN angled deck carrier currently available for fs9 I have knocked up this repaint Showing the ship's angled deck configuration. I still have a few details to tweak however, and my main question is is does anyone know of any way to extend the port side edge of the deck without making adjustments to the model?

Good to see new work!

Hey buddy! Good ol' Cpt. Hooky's always a welcome sight as always, too! :wavey:

Glad to see you're getting your teeth into a new project, keeping busy.
The carrirs are looking ship shape and they'll be a welcome bit o' scenery to be sure.

Can't help you with the modelling part, but anything you wish to shoot over for a wringing-out, don't hesitate!

Stick around Hooky!

Use gmax to make the extension and place it on the side of the carrier scenery as a seperate piece. Hell of a lot easier said than done :icon_lol:

Yes I've been eyeing up Collin Glendinning's Ships for a while but i could never get them to show up in Fs9 as static scenery no matter what i try they don't seem to convert!

If you manage to work that out, let me know!

Kind regards

Hi all

Just a brief update. I have persevered with the 'repaint only' option by making a compromise. I have reduced the angle of the deck by about 10 degrees which although not 100% accurate was the only way to incorporate the angled deck without modifying the model. Having said that its not a total work of fiction Since HMS Triumph had a painted on Angled deck for trials which proved the concept and led to the development of this now standard design. As you can see I have also added the 'Filth factor' for added effect. I plan to make a few more adjustments and possibly include a few static aircraft on deck and then (permission pending) post the completed repaint in the SOH library.

Just Awaiting objects to put on deck now the repaint is pretty much as close as i can get it now so its just a case of adding a few details here and there

The Pennant number has been changed to something a little more accurate and the deck markings have been revised slightly after examining some photos of other vessels from around that time.
