• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Home page has changed

For some reason, my Sim-Outhouse home page has changed, I have had to go and find the forums, is this just me or has it happened to others ?
 
Has happened to me in the past...

But only when I was younger and visiting porn sites....Yes I did that *Once*....

It sounds like adware has redirected your Home page...

Also some things you install(mostly applications) have you set for a new Home Page if you miss the check box to not let it change it....AVG and some defraggers and CCleaner do that to you.....

Run a good spyware, malware tool and see what you get....
 
Funny you should say that.....

No it isn't porn but I have had all sorts of issues recently, I have changed anti-virus, firewall and all sorts of tweaks trying to fix it. Playing FSX this morning, it crashed and an error saying that my NVidia driver had shut down. I have also not been able to use powerpoint for a month dispite re-installing it. Ontop of many start up issues this was too much.

Anyway, uninstalled my NVidia driver earlier and all is fixed. I have been using 185.? that was recommended on here and whilst it ran FSX very well, it has upset my computer everywhere else !!! Now onto the official 181.22 and powerpoint works again....yipee !!!
 
Strange that drivers caused that much trouble......Intresting Glad its sorted and working for you now...:woot:


The bit about porn was more of a jobe...I was not replying that you or any members here would ever visit one of those sites.....LOL
 
Anti-virus programs dont catch everything. I might recommend you install and run an anti rootkit program to see if anything may be hiding omewhere wher a typical anti virus program cant find it. Too, over 2000 virus's and pieces of spyware are released on well, it's either a days or a weeks basis, and it takes the anti virus compzanies anywhere up to a week to get the sample and then another week or two to find a cure..

Hey Guzler,

Clicking on the Navigation item just under the SOH logo brings up a menu that has the options that were on the left hand side of the home page (not sure why it changed, but I'm seeing it here also).

Don't think it's a result of anything nasty,
just admin's reworking the layout.

Possibly to reduce unimportant info and server queries ?

By the way, are you based at the ship yard ? I know a guy (Dave Johnson) who works there, also a life guard. We used to fly microlights from Cockerham.

Same experience here; once I found the forums again (it took me a minute to remember there were pull down menus LOL!) I made a new shortcut and use that now. It's all good.
