Nigel's Avro dressed as an aeroplane operating in Netherlands East Indies @ 1941- Feb 1942 ;

You'll note it has no 'orange' rudder and no marks on top of the wings; this is correct for the time period.

I found a reference on IPMS site that stated part way though 1941 these were removed as aircraft were still being shot down by friendly fire (although how one confuses a bright orange triangle with a blood red roundel?).

After Feb 1942 the national tricolor marks were applied.

So... how did this one end up in Netherlands East Indies.... entirely plausible it was one of the Kwangsi aeroplanes, that made its way to the N.E.I and was impressed into service under new management. The serial number '53' is a bit fanciful (besides it meant I didn't have to adjust the donor texture too much :) ) ; but is representative of an impressed aeroplane; where the number was equal to its position on the list of impressed aeroplanes (as far as I can ascertain) , so this would be the 53rd aeroplane impressed into service.

Its a nice repaints and you're correct about the national markings. But I have checked the "militarised civil aircraft List" in the "Dutch camouflage & Markings bible" by J.H.N. Greuter and there isn't an AVRO on it. So my conclusion is that the aircraft in your screenshots must be a Ryan STM-2 in disguise.....

But as said love a lovely repaint :biggrin-new:

...or cover one eye and squint real hard with the other, and it could be a "late production" Fokker S.IV modified a bit. Some S.IVs were Mongoose powered.
