Had to sell my last gaming rig, some guitars and a car to pay for medical bills that were piling up. Now that i'm finally caught up i can start saving up for a new build. Will build it myself.as the last one i had,and save a ton of money. Will have it set up professionally with all the software needed though,as the last one i did. Priced it to be in the $1600 range. Looking at the new AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 4.3GHz,16 Gig DDR4 ram, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 8 GB OC,750 PSU,Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SSD, and a few other things. Do any of you think this is a good starting point ? Looking to play CFS3-(AnKor's shaders and all expansions),WOTR,IL-2 BoX series,RoF,WOFF, at max settings. Do i need more ? Looking to run Win 7 64 bit as my OS. Still have boxed edition i used on last rig. Will get a second SSD at a later date. Will take 8 to 9 months to save up for as i'm on a fixed income. Maybe things will change in the months to come but this is what i'm looking at for now. Any advise? Saved $1300 by doing myself on the last build. Saving @$200 a month for now. Scared to buy used as i don't know what was done with the pc before me. What do any of you recommend ? Thanks,Scott

I think building your own is the way to go. Keep checking on line for good deals at NewEgg and other online stores, I just picked up a 1Tb SSD for $127 at B&H Photo. I assume you kept all your old data and apps? OK I suppose to stick with win7 but frankly I have no issues with win10 although I was reluctant to change! Get a good power supply. IMO your budget is plenty! Andy's the man to talk to though.

Sticking with Win.7 because i don't like how Win.10 updates. Plus i already bought the OS and it does all i want. Not using the gaming rig to go online with either. Been checking prices and like amazon overall. Will purchase all parts at the same time for warranty reasons.Have everything on a external SSD (1TB) and that's how i loaded most onto a laptop for now.Just can't have all the good stuff on the laptop, which sucks. At least i have CFS3 and IL-2 '46 to play ,for now.Should save about $1200 or more building it myself ! Thanks,Scott

Make sure your hardware still supports W7, as stupid as it sounds. I witnessed a friend building a brand new rig that didn't - he couldn't get past the first boot-up screen as there were no suitable motherboard drivers on the disc to have a working keyboard. Ended up with W10 eventually.

Most of the new parts doesn't support win7 anymore especially its drivers software, guess with your new setup it has to be windows 10 or windows 8 at least...like it or not your hardware will facing trouble with drivers if still using windows 7 unless you seek for at least 2012 hardware not above 2016

I would forget win8; that was a complete disaster. MS seem to alternate in good/bad OS's.

Will go for Win 10 then. Guess i have to grow up sometime ! Did some checking and the hardware is not compatible with Win 7. That's ok,i'll just get use to a new OS . All the new combat flight sims out are geared for Win. 10 anyhow. Thanks Naismith for the link. I have used this site to build my last rig and will probably use them again. Everything is matched up and you can upgrade if necessary . It is : https://www.build-gaming-computers.com/ Thanks for the advice,Scott

hi Scott, I inherited an Ubisoft DVD version of CFS3. It comes in an orange case and has the smaller version of CFS3.exe (IIRC ~ 4063kb?). If you can find a copy it could be useful because I find it runs in Win10 no trouble - nothing in the thread about how to run CFS3 in Win 10 applies to me - other than setting up everything to run as an administrator, of course.

I have the "thingy",so no problem there. Did some reading in the sticky section and doesn't seem to be much of a problem. Thanks for the advice.
