Like a lot of you a buddy and mine take a road trip every year and this would be number 21 for us. Our trips have been in various vehicles from VW pop ups to a GMC Yukon. Basically, if it can hold bikes, kayaks and the rest of the crub and get into the back country off road we would take it. This year my buddy just got a VW pop up again (1984). He got it fixed up and away we went. We ended up overheating just 30 min. into trip and had to make our way back to town. We replaced thermostat and water pump and away we went again. Got two and a half hours out of town and Overheated again. Turns out the reservoir tank was cracked an allowing air in stopping the circulation of fluid. We were able to get another tank and pressed on with the trip…LOL…we wanted FUN! Well, we overheated again and now we were 5 hours out of town. So crippled and tired we drove towards home and stopping every 19 miles to bleed and burp the air out of system. Our trip was supposed to be into SE Washington…Moses lake, Pothholes area and any back road we could find to play. Three days of being stranded along the road here and there. This isn’t the first time or last time we will encounter issues on a road trip. Its all part of the adventure.
