[FONT=verdana, sans-serif] File Description:
F-2A is a Japanese fighter aircraft and it has been developed with the United States based on the General Dynamics (post 1993, Lockheed Martin) F-16 Fighting Falcon. Its blue oceanic flight livery is referred to as "The most beautiful camouflage livery of the world". Its three divited canopy and big-wide wing is the most different part between the F-2 and F-16. This model is only for FS9, you can't use it with FSX. By Team FS KBT.

The Mitsubishi F-2 Fighter is manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Lockheed Martin for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, with a 60/40 split in manufacturing between Japan and the USA.

Some differences between the F-2 and the F-16A:
* a 25% larger wing area
* composite materials used to reduce overall weight and radar signature
* longer and wider nose to accommodate a phased-array radar
* larger tailplane
* larger air intake
* three-piece cockpit canopy
* capabilities for four ASM-1 or ASM-2 anti-ship missiles, four AAMs, and additional fuel tanks

Hmm, Ted, isn't this the same one that's been out for a few years now or is this an update to the original beta version release? I'd also be interested in finding out more about the "3 piece" Canopy. I worked the F-16 Egress system for 16years and it always had a 3 piece Canopy system if you count the windscreen, main Canopy Transparency and the aft plexiglass that covered the actuator and some avionics modules. Interesting.

If this is the original release though, it does work in FSX.:salute:

EDIT: Just noticed that it references the F-16A. . ."A" being the operative here, lol. That goes wayyyyyyyyy back to the very first of the Falcons and a lot of what it shows as differences are no longer correct of course. I just didn't notice the version it was referencing. . ."my bad", lol.

This looks to be the beta release that Falcon409 is talking about. I D/L'ed it just to compare it to my copy and it's the same. If this was indeed a "beta" -- me wonders what happened to the finished product? (if any). This model sure is a beauty though and if you aren't flying it already... you should grab it.

EDIT... Just noticed that the file name of the zip is different from the original "beta"... hmmm. so maybe this is an updated model... my bad.

Original File: F2a_dko1.zip, 73.4MB, this latest file: F2a_dko.zip, 73.3MB. This appeaars to be the same visual model and panel, the sound is a little different IMO. Stick with the soundset from the first release, it just sounds better. The jet seems to be a little easier to manage on landings and in slower flight, otherwise no noticable changes.
