After visiting Mongolia, how about Albania, continuing my unusuall place's in the world to fly Migs from kick.
Ive included two airfields , the main base being Kucove in the south of the country, close to the north Greek border and Gramsh, in the north. theres a traffic file included, but you'll need these files from Flightsim.com----

If you dont have any add-on mesh, id seriously recommend FS2004 Balkans 2004 SRTM Mesh Scenery
by Pietro Mauri, look for-- balkan04.zip, it really makes the area come alive, and is one of the
reasons i made this scenery in the first place.

One disappiontment--- the Albanian airforce had a thing for underground hangers, there are impressive complexe's at both airfields i modelled, i did try having a go at making something half usable but nothing really work'd, limitations of FS9 i guess.

Classic epiode; just one week on from the Mexican 'incident' & they showed how much they had been forced to tone down their humour ..... by being even ruder about the Albanians!! Loved the girl from the Embassy in the audience, p***ing herself laughing & agreeing that every word they said was true!!

Look forward to this one Ian; the Albanians were a strange crew, and those tunnel complexes are some thing else.

for an underground airbase take a look at Željava AB between Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia, it was the largest underground airport and military airbase in the FYR...

great work as usual, going to enjoy this!
 
Well done, Ian. Well done.

Updated the Mig-19 with the new textures, installed the mesh and new scenery, and just completed a flight between the two new fields. Beautiful scenery with no framerate issues.

Dont go showing me things like that Smoothie, i'll only want to make the thing, crazy place though, looks like everythings underground, no buildings on the surface at all, been looking over the area on Google earth ( what a great program that is ) just runways and taxiways and nothing else.
Glad you all like the scenery, this really is a great part of the FS world to fly, esp with the right mesh, i have FS Terrain, but theres a few other options out there, Greece and Italy have always been favorite spots for me, but now ive got the Adriatic to play with esp now some balkan packages are starting to appear at MAIW.

The Albanians were a wonderfully paranoid people; I think I may have mentioned this before, but I had an 'encounter' with the Albanian military when I was 10!! I was on an educational cruise on the SS Uganda (later to serve as a hospital ship during Maggie's Falklands adventure) and we had docked at Corfu. Usual sightseeing stuff except ..... when we got to certain parts of the coast, looking towards Albania, we were not allowed to take photographs. And then when we left Corfu, we were shadowed by an Albanian gunboat with it's deck cannon very clearly pointed toward us - quite what threat they thought was posed by a ship full of 10-12 years olds was never explained.
 
yeah the Albanians can be a 'touchy' lot, not as much as the 'PITA' next door but thats just me :icon_lol:

time to dig my older eastern-bloc and MiG-29's out, time to go buzz the place again :icon_lol:

Glad you like the scenery Naismith, thats a cool captain sim mig repaint also
i only used one standard FS9 flyable plane for the Ai, one flight plan and duplicated about 25 times, its about the limit of my AI skill at the moment :icon_lol:, theres no dedicated mig 17 or 19's out there for ai use, there's an ai Mig 21bis, but Albania was probably the only eastern block country not to use them, except for a few Chine's made F3's

The Nanchang CJ-6's in the statics, I wonder has anyone ever modelled them in the sim? I searched the main sites to no avail. Anyone?
