How Do I View Aircraft Other Than My Own?

I looked at the documentation and it wasn't clear to me how to switch the view to other aircraft in OFF P3 during a mission. Can I view all aircraft (i.e., both friendly and enemy)?

Thanks, and sorry for the dumb question.

As far as I know, you can only look from YOUR cockpit, at the exterior of your enemy, or there are some views which will show your exterior along with the enemy exterior in the same frame. However Teleporters weren't available in 1917. Which is what you'd need, if I understood the question :ernae:

Thanks for the reply. What I meant was to ask was how do I get an external view of the other aircraft in the mission (either friendly or enemy), similar to the external views of my own aircraft available with the F4 key.

No dumb question as it is not so simple thanks to MS's ingenious viewing system.:d

Bring up your radar (Shift+T), press T to show aircraft only, then TAB until you lock on another aircraft. The press F4 three times until you come to player/target view. You will be viewing the exterior of your aircraft looking towards the targeted aircraft. Then press Ctrl+Shift+F4 and your view will reverse and you will be viewing the exterior of the targetted aircraft looking towards your aircraft. While at this view, pressing TAB will switch between all aircraft within the range of the radar.

Normally this method will only show enemy aircraft. If any friendly aircraft are beyond the inner circle of your radar and can not be positively identified (bogeys) they will show too.

Since you would not be controlling your aircraft all this time it would be a good idea to either press P to pause the game or engage the autopilot (Ctrl+Shift+A).

Target VIEW

Hit F4 till you get to "Player/Target view", then hit CTRL+SHIFT+F4, and it will toggle between player view and target view

It's a whole lot less involved, to momentarily switch on your LABELS to allow a positive ID :kilroy:

The far away ones will still be labeled as "bogeys". These are either friendly or enemy. With player/target view you can positively ID them. Another cheat up our sleeves. ;)

NVIDIA 9800 Optimal Settings?

Has anyone found an optimal setting for the NVIDIA 9800 card? I am using Cptroyce"s settings for the 8800 and my FPS rate has improved significantly. (approx 10 fps on average0

Thanks for the replies guys. Gimp, I didn't want to use the external views of other aircraft for target ID. I mostly wanted to do it for screen shots and stuff.

Thanks to all who took the time to respond.

Of course, remapping Microsloth's two and three-keypress combinations to a single key is absolutely MANDATORY to avoid mental insanity! :173go1:
