How does one copy an airfield??

Bear with me chaps,I've got another hair brained scheme hatching.

Most of my UK airfields are Just Flight numbers(I think),I'd like to do an airfield airshow "arrivals" day,but obvs. I'd like to return the airfield to normal ops
when I don't want to go plane spotting.
So,I could do with copying a particular airfield(RAF Cosford in this instance)so that I can tweak it(taxiway on the grass, extra parking and so forth) and
watch the landings and parking of arrivals day, then when I've finished, turn off that scenery to revert to "normal" ops such as the bods at MAIW did with
the Duxford "normal" and Duxford "airshow" sceneries,i.e,install both and when you don't want to go to the airshow you "turn off" the airshow bit
and just have a normal day to day Duxford.

Cheers.

Yes, you can do that. Just make up separate folders in Add-On Scenery and give them names (titles on the scenery list) like Whatever Field-Normal and Whatever Field-Airshow. Just keep one entry in the Scenery.cfg list, and when you want to switch between versions just edit the title in the Scenery.cfg list. I've done that for a number of airports. For example, in Golden Wings I have the Cleveland Nation Air Races in versions for the early thirties and late thirties. There are other but they escape me at the moment. If you make traffic BGLs and keep them in the appropriate scenery folders you'll get the AI swap when you select the version of the airport. By editing a single entry in the scenery.cfg file you won't have any worries about whether the airfield version has the desired AI plan.

Another option would be to have one airfield layout, but with specific parking assigned to airshow traffic only. Then set up your traffic files to only fly in the airshow traffic on one day a week. This would involve some hefty AI traffic file and parking designation code editing too.

Or with two different Afcad coupled with two different AI flightplans.
