How Long?

How long would it take you to get back to your aerodrome after landing {or crashing} just behind friendly lines? 20-25 miles from your aerodrome? I thought it a bit much to crash 20 miles away and still get back for an afternoon flight so I advanced the campaign a day.

How long does it take to patch your plane after getting shot up? Just started Advancing a day when that happens in the morning. I am not sure the plane would be fixed in time for an afternoon flight.

Any ideas for some "House Rules" for these instances?

I think you are right on track. Advancing a day after crashing or landing off base sounds like a logical approach.

It is a possibility to have hitched a ride with an ambulance, ammunition lorry, staff car, fleeing cavalry? Do you resemble Nurse Gladys? Maybe flown over by the adjutant in the squadron's Sop 1 1/2.

Also, you might have been assigned a spare plane to fly for the afternoon.

All things are possible.

If I land on a friendly field not my own with a flyable plane, I figure I'm only there long enough to take a leak, have a smoke, verify my location, buy a round of drinks for whoever's in the mess, and head on home. No problem making the afternoon mission.

If I land on a friendly field but don't feel safe taking off in my damaged crate, I figure one of the lazy, non-flying pilots in my squad comes and gets me in the duty hack 2-seater. Again, back in time for the next mission.

If I land or crash out in the boonies, I advance the time several days. Usually, the campaign only advances to the next day, but that's assuming I'm really in a hurry to get home, looking for a telephone or a hitching a ride. However, I always check out the local girls first. I mean, all those living near my home 'drome already either hate me or are demanding child support, so I have to take advantage of any opportunity ;).

ha ha ha....I love the reasoning....I figured I was the only one who thought a day or two, after being mauled the enemy, isn't too much to ask. :applause:
